:Not to be confused with the Harvest Moon Festival.
The Harvest Festival is an event that happens once a year on the 4th Thursday in November (<small>this year: November </small>), coinciding with Thanksgiving in the United States. Like other holidays, it was absent from WW. During the event, a banquet is set up with food, though the food cannot actually be eaten. Franklin the turkey also makes an appearance, allowing the player to acquire pieces of the Harvest Series.

History
Turkey Day, known as the Harvest Festival prior to short, is an event in the SER that occurs on the fourth Thursday in November (<small>CURRENTYEAR date: November </small>), coinciding with Thanksgiving in the United States. During the event, a banquet is set up with food, and Franklin the turkey makes an appearance, allowing the player to acquire unique items themed around the event.

While not present in the original Japanese version, the North American localization team added the Harvest Festival for western releases of PG. During the Harvest Festival, from 3:00 to 9:00 P.M., the player can see Tortimer and several other villagers eating various foods, while a jock villager stands in front of a large table with a giant, empty plate in the center, as well as a knife and fork. If the player speaks to Tortimer, he will give them a Cornucopia, before wishing the player to enjoy the banquet.

However, the player will eventually realize that the empty plate is meant for the "guest of honor", or rather the "dish of honor", Franklin. As a result, Franklin can be seen hiding behind obstacles (such as trees and signs) out of fear that Tortimer will see him. If the player speaks to him, Franklin will explain his situation to the player, before realizing that the only way they could eat him was if they had silverware, and suggests that the player brings him any silverware they find so he can dispose of them. For each piece of silverware that Franklin receives, the player will receive one piece of furniture from the Harvest Series (including the wallpaper/carpet). Duplicates may occur, however. While in one hiding place, Franklin will accept only one "knife and fork" set, so to receive more, the player must move away from the hiding place until Franklin disappears and search for him again.
+
In PG and short, the Harvest Festival involves the player bringing silverware to Franklin, who hides around town, afraid of being eaten by Tortimer and the villagers. In short and short, Franklin is instead the head chef of the event, tasking the player with bringing him ingredients to create various dishes with.

Appearances
After being absent in WW, the Harvest Festival returns in CF, with only minor changes from its predecessor. One of the main differences is that the silverware is now acquired by speaking to Tortimer by the town hall, who will give the player silverware, thinking that the player will be using it themself or will be distributing it to the other villagers. If the player gives the villager the silverware Tortimer asks them to distribute, the villager will reveal a clue pertaining to Franklin's location, but only one clue can be retrieved from each villager per year (ten clues in total).

 +
While not present in DnM or the original Japanese release, the Harvest Festival appears in international versions of PG and in . During the Harvest Festival, from 3 PM to 9 PM, Tortimer and several villagers appear near the Wishing Well alongside three tables of food. If spoken to, Tortimer gives the player a Cornucopia. He then says he is thinking of having "that new fellow," Franklin, over for dinner.

nolink
+
Franklin can be found in a random acre hiding behind a tree or building, and his general location is hinted at by villagers if spoken to. Franklin is initially scared by the player, thinking they are there to eat him. He explains that Tortimer sent him an invitation to be the "main guest," with guest being written over the word dish, among other things that imply he is meant as the main course for the Harvest Festival. Franklin then tasks the player with collecting the Knife and Fork from the main table at the banquet so he cannot be eaten. If the player brings it to Franklin, he rewards them with an item from the Harvest Series. More Knife and Fork sets can be brought to Franklin, who appears in a different hiding place each time, and he will give the player another item from the Harvest Series.

The Harvest Festival receives a major overhaul in NL. Franklin appears again, though this time as a chef in the event plaza. He will ask for three ingredients (including, but not limited to flour, milk, fish, and fruit) and a fourth, secret ingredient to make the dish better. To receive one of the ingredients (flour, vinegar, milk, butter, or sugar) the player must go around town trading ingredients with their villagers until they get it. Villagers will also give mushrooms or fruit. Villagers only ask for fish (including Sea Bass, Black Bass, Horse Mackerel, Carp, Crucian Carp, and Barbel Steed). After the player gives them the fish they requested, they will offer a hint on the secret ingredient for the dish currently being working on or a potential later dish. After the player has completed a dish, he rewards a piece of furniture from the Harvest Series or a holiday item. Once the player has given him the ingredients for the final dish, the villagers will stop asking for ingredients.

The secret ingredients can include the following:

During the Harvest Festival in CF, two tables are set up outside Town Hall and Tortimer appears, giving the player a Knife and Fork if spoken to. The Knife and Fork can be given to villagers, who will, in turn, tell the player they have seen Franklin hiding around town, and they tell them his general location or what type of object he is hiding behind. If the player returns to Tortimer, he gives them another Knife and Fork, telling them to give it to a specific villager; however, it can be given to any villager who has not already been given one, and they will give another hint toward Franklin's location.
 +

 +
Like in nolink, once the player finds Franklin, he will tell them he is afraid of being eaten, and he will ask them to bring him a Knife and Fork. If the player brings it to him, he gives them an item from the Harvest Series. This can be repeated, and each time the player gives him a Knife and Fork, he changes hiding spots.

 +
In NL, Franklin appears in the event plaza as a chef, and he asks the player to bring him ingredients for his dishes. He makes a total of four dishes: one salad, soup, main course, and dessert, with each having three main ingredients and one secret ingredient. A total of five dishes exist for each type, making for a total of twenty possible dishes. The ingredients Franklin asks for include fruit, mushrooms, fish, sea creatures, Beehives, or five unique items: Flour, Vinegar, Milk, Butter, or Sugar. The ingredients can be obtained from indoors villagers, who will ask for a fish in exchange for the ingredient, followed by a hint for the secret ingredient of one of the dishes.
 +

 +
If the player completes one of Franklin's dishes, he rewards them with an item from the Harvest Series, as well as the option to add a secret ingredient. The first time this is done, he gives the player a Fruit Basket, and if secret ingredients are given for all four dishes, he gives the player a Cornucopia.

While initially absent from NH, the Harvest Festival, now known as Turkey Day, was added in the 1.6.0 Free Winter Update. Isabelle refers to the event as a day to celebrate either the fall harvest (Northern Hemisphere) or the blooming of spring (Southern Hemisphere). On Turkey Day, a feast is set up in the Event Plaza from 9 AM to 12 AM, and Franklin appears as the head chef, tasking the player with gathering ingredients for him to create the event's dishes with. If the player helps him, he will reward them with unique items.
 +

 +
Franklin has a total of four dishes, with each having different ingredients and rewarding the player with a Turkey Day-themed item if completed. The first dish's reward is the Turkey Day Rug, the second's is the Turkey Day Wall, the third's is the Turkey Day Flooring, and the final dish's reward is a Cornucopia. Additionally, after the player completes a dish, they have the option of giving Franklin a secret ingredient, which results in a second reward. The first three dishes' secret rewards are a random DIY Turkey Day furniture item, and the final dish's secret reward is the Cozy Turkey Day DIY pack, which contains all Turkey Day DIY recipes.
 +

 +
Ingredients for Franklin's dishes include fish, sea creatures, pumpkins, and Manila Clams, which, in addition to their usual methods of obtainment, can be received from villagers. Villagers who are in their houses are cooking and will ask the player to retrieve their last missing ingredient for them, which is always a fish or sea creature. Once they receive the ingredient, they will give the player a random ingredient for one of Franklin's dishes as well as a hint as to what the current secret ingredient is.

Turkey Day, known as the Harvest Festival prior to New Horizons, is an event in the Animal Crossing series that occurs on the fourth Thursday in November (2024 date: November 28), coinciding with Thanksgiving in the United States. During the event, a banquet is set up with food, and Franklin the turkey makes an appearance, allowing the player to acquire unique items themed around the event.

In Animal Crossing and City Folk, the Harvest Festival involves the player bringing silverware to Franklin, who hides around town, afraid of being eaten by Tortimer and the villagers. In New Leaf and New Horizons, Franklin is instead the head chef of the event, tasking the player with bringing him ingredients to create various dishes with.

Appearances

In Animal Crossing

Franklin meeting the player during the Harvest Festival in Animal Crossing.

While not present in Doubutsu no Mori or the original Japanese release, the Harvest Festival appears in international versions of Animal Crossing and in Doubutsu no Mori e+.

In City Folk

The Harvest Festival in City Folk.

During the Harvest Festival in Animal Crossing: City Folk, two tables are set up outside Town Hall and Tortimer appears, giving the player a Knife and Fork if spoken to.

Like in Animal Crossing, once the player finds Franklin, he will tell them he is afraid of being eaten, and he will ask them to bring him a Knife and Fork. If the player brings it to him, he gives them an item from the Harvest Series. This can be repeated, and each time the player gives him a Knife and Fork, he changes hiding spots.

In New Leaf

Franklin telling the player about the Harvest Festival in New Leaf.

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Franklin appears in the event plaza as a chef, and he asks the player to bring him ingredients for his dishes.

If the player completes one of Franklin's dishes, he rewards them with an item from the Harvest Series, as well as the option to add a secret ingredient. The first time this is done, he gives the player a Fruit Basket, and if secret ingredients are given for all four dishes, he gives the player a Cornucopia.

In New Horizons

Turkey Day in New Horizons.

While initially absent from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the Harvest Festival, now known as Turkey Day, was added in the 1.6.0 Free Winter Update.[1] Isabelle refers to the event as a day to celebrate either the fall harvest (Northern Hemisphere) or the blooming of spring (Southern Hemisphere). On Turkey Day, a feast is set up in the Event Plaza from 9 AM to 12 AM, and Franklin appears as the head chef, tasking the player with gathering ingredients for him to create the event's dishes with. If the player helps him, he will reward them with unique items.
