DS Capture Screenshots[edit]

Hello! I was recently wondering something. If you were to upload images taken with DS Capture, would they be marked as low quality? DS capture devices simply take the raw pixel data of whatever is being displayed and puts it on your computer screen, with recording and screenshotting capabilities. On the right is an example. Thanks! Vince (talk) 02:28, January 3, 2023 (EST)

As you can see, the two screens are stacked on top of one another, but the images can be split and/or cropped.
Yep, using a DS capture card is perfectly fine since the output should be lossless and at native resolution. It's really only with the N64, GameCube, and Wii that direct capture isn't perfect due to those consoles not natively outputting digital video, but even then, the Animal Crossing screenshots you uploaded are of good quality. The Image-quality template is perhaps not worded the best, as it does not necessarily mean that the image is poor quality, but simply that there is something that could be improved about the image—in this case not being in the exact resolution the game renders at. At the end of the day, an image is better than no image at all, and your contributions so far are appreciated. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 02:53, January 3, 2023 (EST)
Sweet! Good to hear. Vince (talk) 08:33, January 4, 2023 (EST)

Three image formats?[edit]

On the upload policy page, it says there are three image formats, but then lists like 5 formats. I get if maybe .mp4 doesn't count as an image format. Is it because .svg doesn't count either? HylianAngel (talk) 22:17, January 4, 2023 (EST)

I think that was a leftover from an earlier revision, and the number was never updated when new formats were listed. I've gone ahead and removed the count. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 23:23, January 4, 2023 (EST)

Hi Alex[edit]

Hey Alex! I am here to thank you because on the page about lazy dialogue in New Horizons my friend made an edit that was just spam and you removed it and I just wanna say thx even tho it was so long ago! - unsigned comment from Zabro29 (talkcontribs)

Um... exues me[edit]

Hi Could you change my name to April? From eevee - unsigned comment from Eevee (talkcontribs)

I've renamed your account. Typically users must wait six months between renames, but since I did not let you know that when I first renamed you, I'll allow it this time. Note that you will not be eligible for another rename until six months from today (October 7, 2023). ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 00:07, April 7, 2023 (EDT)

Epson V600 settings?[edit]

Hey Alex! I just recently bought an Epson v600 scanner and was wondering what settings you personally use! Your scans of some of the e-Reader cards are very high quality and I wanted to achieve similar results.

Thanks for your time! King Kerog (talk) 22:01, May 4, 2023 (EDT)

I typically scan in professional mode at 1200 DPI, with unsharp mask turned off, saved in the BMP format, and all other settings at default. For e-Reader cards specifically, I scanned those at 3200 DPI because at that resolution you can fully make out the dot code. But for most other things, 1200 DPI is more than good enough to capture all the printed detail. I hope this helps! ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 12:37, May 10, 2023 (EDT)

Gyroid Cargo Table[edit]

Hello. Can you help me create a cargo table for Template:CFGyroids? I've already created the template, but I can't make the table. TheMajesticPineapple (talk) 10:08, August 27, 2023 (EDT)

Done! Thank you for taking the initiative to create some of the City Folk gyroid pages. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 13:13, August 29, 2023 (EDT)

Excuse me[edit]

but I asked on the staff noticeboard over a week ago to be renamed to Child of the Ancients, and I haven't had a reply from any buerucrats that have been online. Please may you rename me to the aforementioned name. SunsetBay 13:14, August 31, 2023 (EDT)

I've responded on the staff noticeboard. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 20:57, August 31, 2023 (EDT)

Hello![edit]

Hello!

My 5 year old son is starting to enjoy Animal Crossing. He doesn't know how to navigate the internet so he's always bugging me to look it up. I've come across this website and would like your permission to use your images of the fish, bugs, and sea creatures in a YouTube video that I am making for him.

Thank you! - unsigned comment from Takingourbreak (talkcontribs)

Absolutely! Feel free to use any of those images for your video. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 02:24, October 22, 2023 (EDT)

Certain formerly-obtainable items[edit]

Does Category:Formerly obtainable items include items that can be re-ordered from the catalog, like the rainbow screen? I know that Wi-Fi is being discontinued, but the items themselves could still be catalogged via local wireless. HylianAngel (talk) 03:58, November 22, 2023 (EST)

I'd include items like that since I wouldn't consider trading between players to be an "official" way to obtain an item. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 04:09, November 22, 2023 (EST)

I'm new[edit]

Hi, you see, I'm new to the wiki. I did a little edit on Islander, and you may notice that. Let me tell you about my Animal Crossing life. My first Animal Crossing game was New Leaf. Funny enough, I started my town 5 years ago (can't you believe it?!) my town's name was Key Town, but after I became mayor, I stopped playing the game until I found it this year 11 months ago. In December 2020, I played New Horizons for the first time, to remember, my island's name was New Island (this was because it was new, get it?) and my first villagers were Hazel and Billy. I then deleted that island and made several new ones, but I deleted them all. Then, I finally made a new island that can last forever, Forest. I named my island Forest after my favorite Animal Crossing YouTuber, JVGSJeff. My Island has a 3-star-rating and I am a G.O.A.T designer that designed over about 200 vacation homes along with ten villagers living in my island. Three villagers, Margie, Greta, and Monty used to live in my island, but over time, I made them move away, because I wanted Margie to become a designer after watching the movie, and Greta and Monty because of how moving starts a new beginning, but it's sad to see someone move away, but it's good to start a new beginning. Moving on for Pocket Camp, nothing much, I'm on level 44 and 16 villagers in my campsite. That's all I have to say. Happy New Year, Alex! Let's make 2024 a great year! Why, you ask? It's because that maybe we will find out that there will be a new Animal Crossing game! Oops, sorry, I was in my own little world for a while. Well, good-bye and happy new year! - unsigned comment from Allison Elizabeth Thompson (talkcontribs)

Welcome to Nookipedia! Thank you for your contribution to the wiki, and Happy New Year! ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 03:10, January 1, 2024 (EST)

REPORTS[edit]

Reporting user 2601:644:8D7F:7490:4475:33AC:BF18:CC6D. Reason: vandalism-only account.: I saw it in the history on 4 pages, and an anonymous user 2601:644:8D7F:7490:4475:33AC:BF18:CC6D vandalized 4 pages total, changing the templates, letters, and adding links to unknown websites. Every edit made by this anonymous user is vandalism, which makes it a "vandalism only account." I also read a Wikipedia page and it said that anonymous users tend to vandalize more. Click here to read the Wikipedia article about vandalism only accounts. You blocked this user for 1 month, but they should probably be blocked forever because this is clearly a vandalism-only account. Acnh Player (talk) 11:36, March 23, 2024 (EDT)

"2601:644:8D7F:7490:4475:33AC:BF18:CC6D" isn't an account, it's an IP address. We usually do not block permanently IP addresses because they are often dynamic (meaning that IPs are not permanent and are shared between many people over time). Long-term and permanent blocks of IP addresses are typically only done when we see repeated vandalism coming from that IP over a long period of time. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 01:42, March 25, 2024 (EDT)

Please[edit]

Can you please stop undoing my edits? Please? ACL.png Acnh Player (talk) ACL.png 23:50, April 12, 2024 (EDT)

Each time I have undone an edit of yours, I have explained why in the edit summary. Most of the time it is because the information is not notable, is already stated in the article, or changed the wording of something for the worse. When you make edits, you need to more carefully consider whether the information you are adding really needs to be there. For example, when adding a hatnote to an article to distinguish it from another article, ask yourself if a reader could realistically search for that other subject and end up on this page.
If you take the time to understand why your edits are being undone and use that knowledge to improve your future edits, then they will be undone less. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 00:04, April 13, 2024 (EDT)
Okay, thank ya. ACL.png Acnh Player (talk) ACL.png 00:09, April 13, 2024 (EDT)

Character etymology[edit]

Hey, I'm not sure why you keep removing my edits on characters' pages? The reasoning of "speculation" doesn't make sense to me because every piece of etymology relating to a character's name is inherently speculation, since they've never been confirmed by Nintendo, and I personally believe the ones I've added have plenty of evidence pointing toward them being accurate (especially Tiffany... I mean... come on). I find the etymology of AC characters really interesting and am just trying to help contribute to it. Toadgamer80 (talk) 20:16, April 13, 2024 (EDT)

I understand the interest in finding out the origins of villagers' names, but as an encyclopedia, our job is to document facts. Because of this, we tend to avoid speculation, even if it is noted as such in the article. While we don't have any official policy on handling villager name origins and we do have some leeway when it comes to speculating on them, we generally tend to draw the line at references to pop culture or real-world figures. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 22:18, April 13, 2024 (EDT)
