::Thank you for the answers! There are of course follow up questions! :)<br>
 +

::1. If you look at a page such as [[Exotic Series]] you will note the tables showing the furniture for the original game/WW/CF are all the missing image icon. If you're just using the HHD sprites should they be added to these tables? Or remove the picture column altogether? Or wait for images directly from those games?<br>
 +
::2. Also don't have! Was just wondering if it was a deliberate choice.<br>
 +
::3. My worry with wait and see is that by the time it becomes apparent that it's moved to a needed thing it's a mammoth job in the middle of a major restructuring (which is a given when the switch game drops and you have a ton of new info to add) rather than something that could be churned through at a more leisurely pace before it was acutely needed. I would also disagree with short-ish articles being necessarily a bad thing. But not my call and it would be a ton of work so I'm happy enough to go with your decisions!<br>
 +
::4. I've been using the special pages for some stuff but, (for example) one RV I added I found there was already a picture in the wiki for it so I didn't need to upload my own, but that was only because I was following the convention on that page at the time and linking to non-existent files and hey presto it turned up. Now there is supposed to be a searchable list [https://nookipedia.com/wiki/Special:ListFiles? here ] but most of what I search on in there doesn't bring up any results even when I know there are files with those words in, or even if I search on exact file names I still get 0 results most of the time. I'm not sure if that's a problem at my end - if I'm using it wrong or blocking something accidentally - or an indexing failure or something else.<br>
 +
::5. It's more that while simple stuff remains broken it's harder to filter the stuff that actually needs looking at - the images was an example of this, but there are plenty of other things like that. Maybe two or three of them actually needed looking at but while there is a backlog of dozens of dead redirects it's hard to spot the bits that require some attention.<br>
 +
::6. Perhaps consider a notification template/category that says this page needs info adding from whichever game, that way you could just have a category page of pages requiring more data from WW/NL/CF etc instead of just a generic one?<br>
 +
::7. Perhaps it would be possible to tweak the templates for the the alerts that things need doing so that they could at least make a vague attempt at mentioning what needs to be added? For example on pages needing images it's not clear if the page is just complaining because of the large number of MIA images used in a furniture table or if the images wanted were screenshots of the full set, or of versions in specific games or... well you see where I'm going with this.<br>

::8. You know you're going to wish for the quiet times once the switch game drops, right? ;)<br>

:::1. I'd be in support of removing the picture column altogether.
 +
:::2. Not deliberate as far as I know.
 +
:::3. We could do it if we can find enough info so that the individual pages aren't tiny stubs. And we'll have time to do it before the new game comes out. You know what Nintendo are like, the new game will get delayed or not show up at all...
 +
:::4. It's baffling me too. I'll ask SuperHamster to try it out. Maybe we're both doing something wrong, but it should still be simpler to search than that.

:::5. Good point, I will look at fixing these things as my next project, if you can call it that. :D

:::6. Again, good idea.

Does creating a userpage on this wiki allow you to see the fish and bug hours based on where you live? Hi Red Snapper, I'm interested in starting a list of what campers have available in their RVs, but am not sure how to start that. So far I have a list and an inside & outside photo of each RV for Jack, Blanca, Nat, Pascal, and Zipper. Any advice about whether this should be a brand new page, or on the RV, Campground, or Special Visitor page? Blackberry Pie (talk) 13:41, December 5, 2016 (EST)

RV would be my choice, as it's the most relevant, and the page is also the most incomplete. This sort of content doesn't really need its own article even if it gets really long, because we can make it into a collapsed list, like SuperHamster did here. Re:Inactive admins

I've demoted Wookiee123 (talk | contribs | logs) seeing that he hasn't been consistently active, going through a burst of edits only to be inactive for many, many months. As for Sky (talk | contribs | logs), I'll probably demote him, but having only one 'crat is... weird. Though it's probably fine since we have two directors. Heidy Isabel (talk | contribs | logs) and Trainiax (talk | contribs | logs), I might consider, but I'll give them a few extra months though they're very close for me to demote them. Mario Signature.png 14:04, December 13, 2016 (EST)

One more thing, I can't change Bureaucrat rights myself, only admin rights, but SuperHamster (talk | contribs | logs) hasn't gotten back to you since that message. But sorry for me to take so long, haha. Mario Signature.png 14:06, December 13, 2016 (EST)

What do you mean? It's not inappropriate and it never said that in the policy. Are you wrong? --Beethoven Freak (talk) 22:31, December 28, 2016 (EST)
When I was here back around three years ago, it was considered not okay to just post images on someone else's talk page. It might not be in the main policy, but it is still valid in the Signature policy. ~PoizonMushro0mPoizonMush Sig.png 22:46, December 28, 2016 (EST)

But it's not in my signature!

--Beethoven Freak (talk) 22:58, December 28, 2016 (EST)

For the record, there's nothing wrong with adding images as part of a talk page comment. I don't recall it ever being disallowed, but maybe I'm wrong. If I had to guess, it may have been a rule about adding images that weren't part of a discussion, or adding content to others' userpages. ~SuperHamster Talk 00:27, December 29, 2016 (EST)

So you're saying I'm ugly, right?

--Beethoven Freak (talk) 11:28, December 29, 2016 (EST)

Can't you all take this discussion somewhere else? Thanks, Red (talk)Red Snapper HHD Icon.png 11:31, December 29, 2016 (EST)

Vandalism

Hey Drago, since you have seemed to be the target of multiple attempts of vandalism, do you think your userpage should be protected to at least autoconfirmed at bare minimum? Just curious how you personally feel about it since my old account had mild cases of it to. ~PoizonMushro0mPoizonMush Sig.png 16:38, March 2, 2018 (EST)

Vandalism has only occurred on my user page on two occasions, but still, it can't hurt. I've semi-protected it indefinitely. Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 13:14, March 3, 2018 (EST)

Three Quick (and Stupid) Questions

Question One: Um do you know how to make those little userboxes (like the ones on your Talkpage)?

Question Two: Um do you know how to make the large Infobox (the one with the image of Drago in)?

Question Three: Is there anyway I can change my username anytime after I've created my Nookipedia account, or am I forever stuck with it? :'(

XXxKandiixXx (talk) 11:40, April 2, 2018 (EDT)XXxKandii

Hi there! They're not stupid at all! :) Here are my answers:
Question One: A full explanation is too long to write out here, but the best way would be to copy the code at Template:UserboxSimple and fill in the parameters (color, image, etc.). Also, I don't see any userboxes on my talk page; do you mean on my user page?
Question Two: Copy the code at Template:Infobox User and fill in the parameters.
Question Three: Yes, any bureaucrat (including myself) can rename users. Just ask on one of our talk pages or post on the staff noticeboard. Bear in mind that you can only have, at most, one rename in every 6 month period.
Feel free to ask if you have any more questions. Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 14:55, April 2, 2018 (EDT)

Response to my three stupid questions

Thank you, also please could you erase all of the images that I posted here as well? :) And could you change my username to ╚»★«╝ xxxкαη∂ιιxxx ╚»★«╝ as well please :3

User:XXxKandiixXx

Are you sure you want that name? It contains a lot of non-standard characters. I'm not even 100% sure if the software would allow those characters; it can get awkward with those kinds of things. Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 11:29, April 3, 2018 (EDT)

Help a weasel out, won't you

There's some really secret things about this wiki, i have to tell you about. Where do I go if the bulletin boards forum is closed? It has to be private message since it's top secret.

I'm not Drago, but if you would like to privately message me about these 'secret things', feel free to privately message myself or another Nookipedia Staff member on the Nookipedia Discord server. I hope I can help. ZCJigglypuff(Talk)
Yeah, as Jiggly said above, private messaging is usually done on the Discord. We'd love to see you join over there! Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 11:35, September 28, 2018 (EDT)

Protecting my talk page archive

I'm currently not an admin and I don't have now permissions to edit or move it. Can you lower it for autocomfirmed users please. Thank you! vmario97 (talk) 15:07, October 23, 2018 (EDT)

Have you finished archiving? If you have, it shouldn't need to be edited again... Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 15:10, October 23, 2018 (EDT)
I'm now don't care about it. This archive is completed yet. If my messages on my main talkpage will be another 10000 bytes, I'm sure I'll ask to remove protection. vmario97 (talk) 15:13, October 23, 2018 (EDT)
Don't worry, I lowered the protection for you. :) Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 15:16, October 23, 2018 (EDT)

Changing File Links

Is it ok to change file links on userpages? It does seem kind of intrusive, come to think of it Results May Vary (talk) 13:33, November 28, 2018 (EST)

Thanks for your question. I don't have a problem with this, they are basically maintenance edits after all. Deliberately altering a user's personal details wouldn't be a good idea, but there's not a problem with changing file links. Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 13:40, November 28, 2018 (EST)
Ok Results May Vary (talk) 17:46, November 28, 2018 (EST)

Stupid Question Time!

I guess first I should say "hi" and thanks for the welcome, the kindness and the delete. I'm having problems finding my way around and working out where I can be useful barring where I started - which I started adding to after I tried to look something up and found most of the info on the page was missing. So, honestly I'm kinda bemused by a few things. Erm and I should warn you now I'm going to waffle...

1. Is there any logic to the images used/naming conventions/editing conventions? Because I was initially trying to match up with those I saw on other furniture related pages but looking at them now I realise a lot are labelled as HHD sprites even though they are being used for ACNL pictures and yet they are not being used as icons on CF/WW etc despite being largely the same. Are separate pics needed for those other games? And then some places just include unedited pics straight from the catalog?
2. Is there a particular reason there aren't sections relating to HHD stuff in amongst the other versions? Is it just because it's a spin off or something more - I'm not familiar enough with the gameplay/wiki policies to know.
3. Why do items not each have their own page? especially given variations in each game and the customisation options in ACNL and who knows what in the next game. Surely creating each item would make so many things more easy as you could then easily categorise them by series/set/colour, tag them as beds, chairs etc making those category pages much easier to build and far more importantly making them searchable and allowing for things like redirects for where versions have differing translations (eg. Mary Janes/School Shoes) as well as providing an easy place to work out if the items had pictures/data added to them already? Also it would mean that you could click through to items/sets etc from (for example) villager pages if you liked the look of some furniture and wanted to know more.
4. On that note how do I check whether items have pictures/data that I should be using? searching is largely not getting me anywhere?
5. The maintenance stuff doesn't seem to be... uh working? I mean there are, for example, currently 200 images pending deletion the vast majority of which don't exist any more, at the same time there are dozens of pages with non-existent files embedded in them. If I poke some of these enough it looks like they've been renamed but the links to them were never fixed. And I ran into the wanted pages section which included a large number of category type pages which inexplicably both do not exist and are repeatedly linked to. I'm not even really sure how to begin to go about fixing all this.
6. Is there any way to categorise wanted data by game? I know for me while I am happy to contribute I don't have access to all the games but there is no way for me to filter between (for example) pages with info missing from DnM vs NL, one of which I have no access to and the other of which I can probably find that info. I think given the upcoming switch release you'll probably see a huge number of people arriving at that point that would be happy to add info about the new game but if it's impossible to work out where those holes are in the data due to all the data missing from other games I think people will get discouraged and not contribute.
7. There are loads of pages marked as needing cleanup or as stubs but no guidance that I've been able to find about what needs to be added/cleaned up/how they are supposed to be formatted beyond generic advice about how to create sections and add basic formatting. Am I missing something? Ditto this for the formatting of regular pages, there appears to be significant variation between pages of the same type and I haven't managed to locate any guidance on this and the templates only seem to apply to portions of pages such as info boxes rather than how pages should be formatted on the whole.
8. Why is so much info missing? (Just it seems like after all this time editing would be filling in obscure random details not looking at pages requesting dozens of images or finding whole swathes of info was never added)
9. Is there any advice for getting screenshot type stuff out of older versions of the game (for example I think I have a WW cartridge somewhere, sadly I know I reset my original town but I don't remember a screenshot function and I don't have a modified DS or anything like that).

I appreciate that this is a lot of waffle and honestly I'm rather hoping that you're going to come back and point me at load of stuff I have completely missed that explains all of this because atm I find myself just getting stuck poking at things and it makes my brain hurt and I just keep going around in circles which is why I've largely stuck to the Campgrounds for now (even as a side note there, many of the items you can buy from Harvey for 5 Meow tokens are also available in RVs for 3 but I'm unsure how to include that info within the confines of the table provided and honestly without item pages it all starts to feel a little pointless anyway since there is no way to link around the different pages that are referencing them anyway). Kazz (talk) 15:55, December 3, 2018 (EST)

No worries, you can ask me as many questions as you like! If you'd asked me 50 questions I would have attempted to answer them all. :) Anyway, those all-important answers:
1. If memory serves me correctly, we've been using HHD sprites because they look the best. To be honest, the appearance of most items doesn't change between games, so if we have images for New Leaf and/or Happy Home Designer, we probably don't need ones for Wild World, City Folk, and the rest. There are exceptions, though (Mario Theme items were modernized in New Leaf, lava lamps and golf bags became one customizable item in New Leaf, etc.)
2. You're very welcome to add Happy Home Designer sections in to articles - we should try and cover as much of the series as possible, even spin-offs. I just don't think many editors here are/were interested in HHD and therefore didn't play it. The same applies to amiibo Festival, and possibly Pocket Camp.
3. We don't have pages for individual items because we don't consider them notable enough to each have their own article (a lot of them would be tiny stubs). With the customization options in New Leaf, hopefully even more to come in the upcoming Switch game, and the obvious categorization benefits, I can see individual pages becoming a possibility in the future. Let's just see what the next game in the series brings!
4. I don't fully understand the question - are you asking how to find out which pages still need images or other info adding to them? If so, you can check Category:Image Wanted, Category:Stubs, and Category:Articles Under Construction (please go to Nookipedia:Maintenance for links) for somewhere to start, while Nookipedia:Project Furniture lists unfinished furniture articles.
5. Hm...I wouldn't really worry about it. The images are in the process of being deleted, and are just redirects that were created after files were moved. The other stuff I will look at but it's not a huge priority IMO.
6. I'm not aware of one, no. It's a bit of a bugbear...maybe it would help if we started a new project for each game? "Project New Leaf", "Project DnM+", and the like. But I don't know if we'd get much interest from other editors.
7. Cleanup usually just means rewriting the page or section in a more professional-sounding manner. Stubs are tricky because it isn't always obvious what info needs to be added. Filling in empty or almost-empty sections is a good start, otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.
8. Ouch...I'm afraid it's probably due to a lack of activity. :P We don't seem to have many active editors or admins. We're most likely still second for activity behind Wikia/Fandom, and therefore less essential work gets done. I wonder if we can attract some new editors here somehow?
9. Wild World doesn't have a screenshot function, and there's no easy way to take screenshots on a DS without emulators...hence why so many Wild World images were taken using a camera. You would probably need to download the Virtual Console version on Wii U, and even then you'd likely need a capture card now that we don't have Miiverse. The N64 and GCN games would also require a capture card; I don't know of another method.
Phew! I hope this helped in some way. Please feel free to ask if you have any more questions. Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 13:20, December 4, 2018 (EST)
Thank you for the answers! There are of course follow up questions! :)
1. If you look at a page such as Exotic Series you will note the tables showing the furniture for the original game/WW/CF are all the missing image icon. If you're just using the HHD sprites should they be added to these tables? Or remove the picture column altogether? Or wait for images directly from those games?
2. Also don't have! Was just wondering if it was a deliberate choice.
3. But not my call and it would be a ton of work so I'm happy enough to go with your decisions!
4. Maybe two or three of them actually needed looking at but while there is a backlog of dozens of dead redirects it's hard to spot the bits that require some attention.
6. Perhaps consider a notification template/category that says this page needs info adding from whichever game, that way you could just have a category page of pages requiring more data from WW/NL/CF etc instead of just a generic one?

I'm not on any other servers apart from the Nookipedia one (which you're banned from), so no, sorry. Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 07:12, January 31, 2019 (EST)

Bug and Fish Main Page Calendar (time-zones)

Does creating a userpage on this wiki allow you to see the fish and bug hours based on where you live? Because here the wiki time-zone seems to be based on the eastern timezone which is far from here I live (Western European Time). --37.28.193.51 14:34, June 24, 2019 (EDT)

No, sorry, it's based on the server time no matter what time zone you set in preferences. I just checked the Main Page and it's showing that Birdwing and Agrias butterflies can be caught right now and it's nearly 8 P.M. where I live! :( Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 14:59, June 24, 2019 (EDT)

Staff rights

I'm pretty active here again. I think I like to have some of the tools back again, if you don't mind! I don't think I have to go through applications again, do I? Mario Signature.png 01:04, December 22, 2019 (EST)

No, I don't think so! You'd pass with flying colors if you did anyway, lol. :P Do you want the full bureaucrat and admin back or just admin? Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 11:05, December 22, 2019 (EST)
I think having another admin would work for me. Don't need another 'crat at the moment. Thanks! Mario Signature.png 18:07, December 22, 2019 (EST)
Yeah, we've got four reasonably active 'crats if you include the directors. Anyway, you're an admin again now, so enjoy! And welcome back! Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 10:38, December 23, 2019 (EST)
Hey, thanks a lot! Mario Signature.png 02:57, December 27, 2019 (EST)
