Licensing[edit]

I'd just like to thank you for creating the first of our licensing templates. I'll be implementing MediaWiki's official licensing selection for uploads soon, and your contribution is really a great start. Thanks again! --Jake 23:09, 2 December 2010 (EST)

Sure, no problem. ~SuperHamster Talk 23:12, 2 December 2010 (EST)

Capitalization[edit]

It appears that I was too quick to correct the capitilization of some pages. For some reason it appears that the current standard has all words besides the first without a capital. While I understand that in game items are typically spelled in all lower-case lettering, I do not believe it correct to have page titles with lower-case words. Could you please rationalize this decision for me? (I think it looks terrible and sloppy, but that's just me.)--Dvorakelt 22:14, 7 February 2012 (EST)

It basically comes down to being grammatically correct (not very exciting reasoning, I know). No way is really better and both are justifiable; our system of lower-casing titles is just the way the standard has developed. Wikipedia has similar standards in titling their own articles. Here is a little discussion from last year where we discussed and decided on capitalization conventions for fish and insect articles. ~SuperHamster Talk 22:25, 7 February 2012 (EST)
I checked and it appears that Wikipedia does the same thing. I suppose it is just me then. Thanks! Sorry for any inconvenience I caused in my hastiness... --Dvorakelt 22:38, 7 February 2012 (EST)
Nah, it's not just you, I can see the argument that capitalizing all words could look better. It's a title after all. No worries though, that's the beauty of a wiki ;) ~SuperHamster Talk 22:41, 7 February 2012 (EST)

Friend Code[edit]

What is your Friend Code?Pokemon9

Hey, sorry, I haven't played Animal Crossing in a long while. Check out the Bulletin Board though for some people who may be interested :) ~SuperHamster Talk 02:49, 28 May 2012 (EDT)

Hey SuperHamster thanks for correcting me on villagers and characters it's appericiated thanks

Adding Bugs[edit]

Hi, I don't know if this is the proper procedure, but I've been going around the wiki fixing up things, and I noticed that the Rainbow Stag isn't even listed as a bug. There is no connection between the Rainbow Stag Article and the insect category page. Can you add the connection? I don't seem like I have that power...--BellBank 21:26, 12 July 2012 (EDT)

'Ello - I went ahead and added the article to Category:Insect. Thanks a lot for pointing that out. In the future, note that you do have the power to add articles to categories :) Simply add the category you want to the bottom of the page, with the "Category:" prefix and double brackets, like this:

Thanks for all your contributions so far. ~SuperHamster Talk 00:37, 13 July 2012 (EDT)

Featured image template[edit]

Hello, can you change Template:Main_Page/Featured_Image to say Shizue instead of Shizu? Zharkaer 21:45, 12 July 2012 (EDT)

Done, thanks for pointing that out, and thanks for all your contributions so far! ~SuperHamster Talk 00:38, 13 July 2012 (EDT)
Thanks man. Zharkaer 00:52, 13 July 2012 (EDT)

Rename[edit]

Hello,

Nice to meet you! I'm, Sdgsgfs an user in this wiki. Well, I'm not really new to editing nor the Animal Crossing City (was shocked about the moving thing, but was a good idea actually). I want to rename myself, since the name is kinda not professional, so can you please, rename me to "Wolfgang"?

Thank you, Sdgsgfs 13:27, 11 August 2012 (EDT)

Done, you've been renamed to Wolfgang :) Thanks for your contributions so far, keep up the great work! ~SuperHamster Talk 16:34, 11 August 2012 (EDT)

Hello[edit]

Hello,

Nice to meet you! I'm, Wolfgang an admin and bureaucrat in Club Penguin Wiki. I have recently moved from Wikia, I'm not new to Nookipedia. But I noticed many admins and lead editors are inactive, you must consider demoting inactive users that are inactive since 2010 and promoting active ones. Sorry if I'm interfering, but I want the best for here.

Thank you, Wolfgang 12:36, 14 August 2012 (EDT)

Hey again. Thanks for the concern. We're currently in the slow process of doing that - we're just about to promote a fairly new, yet active and experienced user to adminship. However, it does take a bit of time for users to become experienced enough with editing this wiki, and for us to determine who is fit to be a staff member. Right now the majority of active users here are doing a great job editing, but still need a bit more time and experience before they're ready to become part of the staff. Moving too quickly to promote active users would be a bad idea if the users are unprepared and inexperienced, but as soon as I and other staff members feel a user is ready to be promoted, they will be. If you'd like some tips regarding what you can do yourself to show that you are prepared for becoming a staff member, let me know. Thanks again. ~SuperHamster Talk 12:51, 14 August 2012 (EDT)
I completely agree with Wolfgang, sorry for barging in. As such, I'm a lot more used to an active staff on Zelda Wiki, this makes me more comfortable while editing because I know most of my mistakes can be fixed. I think we really do need to start going through a slow-but steady process of demoting and promoting... As such, I understand how hard it is to get promoted.. I'm one of the more general active and effiecent users on Zelda Wiki and I'm still an autocomfirmed. It comes down to the overall quality of your edits, not quanity. Making 5000 edits that aren't good, won't get you promoted. --XXSuperXXNintendoXx 18:31, 14 August 2012 (EDT)
Definitely correct, as much as we need an active and experienced staff though, we need an active user base to promote in the first place. In the next few weeks I think we could see a few promotions, though :) Thanks for the input guys, it's appreciated. Me and the few other staff will keep an eye out for when we think any editors have shown the knowledge and skill to become part of the staff. ~SuperHamster Talk 00:27, 15 August 2012 (EDT)
I'm joining in this conversation too. :P Although I'm not as active as I used to be, I believe that is due to a lack buzz surrounding Animal Crossing. With the lack of info recently, I'm not surprised some of the staff here have decided to jump ship. The reason that not a lot has been done with the staff recently is because with the number that are inactive, removing all of them would make us a very bare-bones wiki. I'm also involved on the forums on promoting users as I believe that when the flood of info comes out (late this year) the tools need to be in the hands of the people who are using them and not the people who used to use them. Leem01 10:40, 17 August 2012 (EDT)

Hello[edit]

Hello,

I forget to add licenses ;D. I'm totally sorry for that, I'll make sure to add from now on.

Thank you, Wolfgang 09:04, 15 August 2012 (EDT)

Heh, no problem. Thanks for all the awesome image uploads, they really help. Keep up the great work :) ~SuperHamster Talk 15:16, 15 August 2012 (EDT)

Hello again[edit]

Hello,

SuperHamster I want to ask you (I usually ask in any wiki I join). How's my progress here? Am I helping out here in a good way? Are my edits done neatly? Any advice you wanna give me to improve myself?

Sorry for many questions, but I do ask that to make sure I do things right :).

Thank you, Wolfgang 16:58, 21 August 2012 (EDT)

I'm not SuperHamster, but I have known a lot of great editors throughout NIWA and you're doing a great job, especially with the image uploads. I have a question are you familar with transparency of images (aka taking out the backround of the object you captured? --XXSuperXXNintendoXx 17:17, 21 August 2012 (EDT)
I'm an admin and bureaucrat in Club Penguin Wiki, and ya of course I know how to make transparent images. I have a good experience in images side and articles. ;) Wolfgang 19:39, 21 August 2012 (EDT)
Agreed with XXSuperXXNintendoXx, you've been doing great work, especially with your image uploads - they've been making a huge improvement to the wiki, so thanks for that :) Just some tips regarding editing, you can always use the "preview" function before saving edits to make sure everything works out fine (no red links, no format errors, etc.). Also, any time you want to link to Animal Crossing game articles, such as Animal Crossing: Wild World or Animal Crossing: City Folk, you should use the link templates. For example, putting CF into an article will produce Animal Crossing: City Folk. Other then that, keep up the great work! You can always work on expanding articles if you wish to move on to other things. Maybe we'll see a promotion sometime in the future ;) ~SuperHamster Talk 22:45, 21 August 2012 (EDT)

Hello again[edit]

Hello,

It's me Wolfgang, you can notice I didn't edit much recently the reason is I travelled to Kuwait and gonna be back in 2 days, so please don't thing left this wiki :).

Thank you, Wolfgang 01:35, 27 August 2012 (EDT)

School[edit]

Hello, I just wanted to inform you of the reason as of why I can' get on as much as I used to. I have school and have had this cold for a few weeks now. However, I'm mostly settled in and will try to patrol the majority of a week's edits and contributions... unless I'm busy with schoolwork or with friends and such :). Also, I wondered how my progress as a patroller is so far. This is new to me and I wondered if I was doing it correctly, thanks! --XXSuperXXNintendoXx 23:52, 10 September 2012 (EDT)

Not a problem - hope you feel better with that cold :) I think everyone has one, now that school has started back up...
Anyway, you seem to be doing just fine. Patrolling edits that are appropriate for the wiki, and reverting any that aren't is the right way to go. Thanks for the work so far! ~SuperHamster Talk 23:55, 10 September 2012 (EDT)

User Name[edit]

Is it just me or does my user name come up as "Mlnintendo97"? If it does, can you please change it to "mlnintendo97", I has been kinda bugging me lately and I have wondered if the wiki just does that. Thanks! mlnintendo97 was here!!!! 00:45, 29 September 2012 (EDT)

The way the wiki is set up, all usernames have their first letter automatically capitalized. Sorry! ~SuperHamster Talk 12:18, 29 September 2012 (EDT)

Oh, that clears up things. Thanks for the help!!!! (P.S: I don't know if you noticed, but when you go to make or reply to, even post a status on the Bulletin Boards, it is giving members a server error, I have tried to notify Jake, but he isn't responding. I used his e-mail by the way. mlnintendo97 was here!!!! 01:46, 30 September 2012 (EDT)

I did notice that happening to me on certain boards, looks like it's happening to the entire forum too, then...which also explains why we haven't got back to you on your staff request yet. Sorry about that! I'll see if I can figure anything out, but Jake is in charge and has the know-how of the mechanics of the site, so hopefully he'll respond soon. Thanks for bringing that up. ~SuperHamster Talk 11:12, 30 September 2012 (EDT)

No Problem!!!! :D mlnintendo97 was here!!!! 18:05, 1 October 2012 (EDT)

Birthday Question[edit]

Is it ok if I can add my birthday to the June 15th Page or does that conflict with Wiki Policy? - unsigned comment from Mlnintendo97 (talkcontribs)

Those birthday pages are only for villager birthdays in Animal Crossing. Birthdays can and will be celebrated on the forums, though :) ~SuperHamster Talk 13:46, 4 October 2012 (EDT)

Ok, I just wanted to make sure it is ok before I edit myself in there, thanks!!! mlnintendo97 was here!!!! 18:54, 4 October 2012 (EDT)

Help[edit]

Sorry for how much I have been bugging you on here, but I have a HUGE problem on my userpage. I was trying to add a wikitable around my userboxes and I wanted them to go vertical, but it came out as horizontal. I was planning on doing this with all of my userboxes and putting them into categories (ex: All Animal Crossing userboxes in one wikitable, Nookipedia related userboxes in another.) Can you help me out with this and fix it? You can post the proper code here for me so I can learn from this MAJOR mistake if you want. Thanks! mlnintendo97 was here!!!! 23:58, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

Hey, no problem, glad to help! I went ahead and fixed up your Animal Crossing userboxes if that's all right. Hopefully I did what you wanted? Here's a quick run-down of how I made a vertices set of tables. Basically, starting a "|-" creates a new line, while "|" creates a new cell on that line. The following code would produce a table with three vertical cells.

align="center" | *insert content here*
align="center" | *insert content here*
align="center" | *insert content here*

Now, say you wanted a table with three rows, and two columns. Here is how you would do that:

align="center" | *insert content here*
align="center" | *insert content here*
align="center" | *insert content here*
align="center" | *insert content here*
align="center" | *insert content here*
align="center" | *insert content here*

Hopefully this made a bit of sense. Give it a try with your other userboxes? If you need any more help, just holler :) Wikipedia also has some nice examples of tables here. Also remember to sign your posts on talk pages ;) ~SuperHamster Talk 23:17, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

I kinda wanted a wikitable with an outline on it, but I guess it will work for now, and thanks with helping me out with it. I almost forgot to ask! With the Bulletin Boards down and all due to server errors, what was the staff's decision to my request of becoming a staff member? You can send what they thought over to my e-mail at <retracted>. mlnintendo97 was here!!!! 00:06, 6 October 2012 (EDT)

Ohh, if you want a border, try replacing the first line of the table I gave you with this:
Hopefully that fits what you want. As for your request, the staff never actually got a chance to discuss it, since the boards have been down and that's our main method of communication, sorry about that! I will shoot you a quick email though about it :) (I've also removed your email from the page, to protect against potential spambots). Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 00:57, 6 October 2012 (EDT)

Thanks for removing my e-mail, I never would of thought of that! I just read your e-mail, my response is on it's way! Thanks again for the help on the wikitable! :D mlnintendo97 was here!!!! 02:24, 6 October 2012 (EDT)

I am sorry for how much I keep on asking for help on this darn wikitable, but I am trying to get my Userboxes About Me at the top along with my Animal Crossing Userboxes. I have tried Wikipedia's way, but it doesn't seem to be working. mlnintendo97 was here!!!! 02:24, 6 October 2012 (EDT)

No problem at all :) How about trying to make another table to store each set of userboxes in? Make a table with 1 row and 2 columns, and put your Animal Crossing userboxes in one cell, and your About Me userboxes in another. Give that a shot, and if you need help, let me know. ~SuperHamster Talk 11:49, 6 October 2012 (EDT)

Jump Out Box on Main Page[edit]

Hi SH,

Just wanted to drop by here and say well done for creating the awesome Jump Out box on the main page, it looks really nice.

--Leem01 10:54, 6 October 2012 (EDT)

Ohh, awesome, thanks! =) ~SuperHamster Talk 11:49, 6 October 2012 (EDT)

Nookipedia:The Bulletin Board[edit]

I was wondering if I can bring back the Nookipedia:The Bulletin Board page since The Bulletin Board is once again down. Leem01 was the one who created it last time, but he hasn't recreated it, so is it ok? mlnintendo97 was here!!!! 01:31, 9 October 2012 (EDT)

Looks like Leem just took care of it :) Totally forgot that alternative existed, thanks! I've updated the temporary Bulletin Board page with info on the alternative forum. ~SuperHamster Talk 15:17, 9 October 2012 (EDT)
Yeah, sorry for stealing the job :P, hopefully it gets used a bit more this time. I can't remember if we put a link in the sidebar last time, do you think we need to? Leem01 15:55, 9 October 2012 (EDT)
Haha, no problem, glad you did. Doesn't matter in the end who does it. :) And meh, I don't think we need to change the target of the sidebar link. Linking to the broken Bulletin Boards, which then has a link to the on-wiki forum is good enough as I see it, but I'm not against linking in the sidebar, either. ~SuperHamster Talk 23:31, 9 October 2012 (EDT)

User:Beanoz4 has edited my Userpage.[edit]

(embarrassing content removed) --mlnintendo97 was here!!!!

To me it looks like Beanoz was editing with good faith (I recomend reading the article, it's an important priciple of any wiki). By the looks of it, Beanoz is happy with his userpage and doesn't want any help. As for protection, I'll be happy to protect your userpage. Thanks. ~SuperHamster Talk 18:00, 20 October 2012 (EDT)

Oh yea, I forgot all about that, thanks for the protection of my userpage! As for the article, I am reading it now, I will let you know what I think about it! --mlnintendo97 was here!!!! 19:03, 20 October 2012 (EDT)

Yeo, no problem. Just expanding on what I said, you do have final say on your userpage, but for something like this, there's no need for admin action :) Just letting Beanoz know you don't want your userpage touched should be good enough :) ~SuperHamster Talk 19:20, 20 October 2012 (EDT)

Well, that has been kinda difficult lately due to a disagreement on Facebook, so he is kinda mad at me for whatever reason, so I am now trying make peace of this whole situation before he starts doing a edit war on my pages... mlnintendo97 was here!!!! 20:37, 20 October 2012 (EDT)

Animal Crossing 3DS Name Change - Text Replace[edit]

Hi again, it's me. With the name change to New Leaf (I'm already calling it NL), rather than having to edit tons of articles, can't we do a text replace thingy. I think the directors can do it as Jake did it in the past when we went to Nookipedia. Just thought this may be an easier idea. Leem01 03:20, 27 October 2012 (EDT)

I can see that in the special pages list, but it loads to a blank page, so I probably don't have permission. But yes, it is very possible and simple. Super (duh...)AlpacaDoggie Mask.gif 11:46, 27 October 2012 (EDT)
Hey guys - I've thought of that before, but like SuperAlpaca, I get a server error every time I try to open the text replace page. I think it's supposed to be that both Bureaucrats and Directors have the right to use text replacing, but it looks like something is wrong with it server-wise and Jake will have to look at it. On the bright side, I think we've manually fixed all instances of Animal Crossing: Jump Out, and the only thing left being to update categories. ~SuperHamster Talk 12:13, 27 October 2012 (EDT)
Since I got that when I tried to learn the page, I thought it was only available to directors. At least we're able to do it manually :D Leem01 17:26, 30 October 2012 (EDT)
Oh yea, of course...I'll be willing to do it manually as soon as you are XD It took me a while to think of, but I ended up using Wikipedia's AutoWikiBrowser, which surprisingly works with Nookipedia, to quickly go through and replace the remaining Jump Out categories. ~SuperHamster Talk 23:25, 30 October 2012 (EDT)

Thanks For the Welcome[edit]

I'm really excited for New Leaf, and I just watched the Nintendo Direct video. Thought it would be fun to add some new info as I wait for the American release.--SpideyCanThrash 01:23, 4 November 2012 (EST)

No problem! We're all excited for the release (which is a while away...euurrgghh). There already is so much new information to add, and with the release of the game, there will be even more, so the more, the merrier :) Hope to see you around! ~SuperHamster Talk 01:27, 4 November 2012 (EST)

Signature Help[edit]

Hey, this is mlnintendo97 again, I am trying use coding in my signature to make it look better. I have been encountering this when I use it (- <span style="color:Teal;">mlnintendo97</span> (<span style="color:Fuchsia;">talk</span>) 19:34, 4 November 2012 (EST)). It is suppose to look like this (Template:Mlnintendo97). How can I fix this? -mlnintendo97

Hey there, I'm currently away from home and on my phone, so I can't take a good look at it right now. I'll be back Tuesday, but hopefully someone else could help you before then. Sorry about that. ~SuperHamster Talk 00:25, 5 November 2012 (EST)

it is okay, I messaged User:Leem01 for help and I am about to test out his suggestion now. -mlnintendo97

Did we ever get replace text working?[edit]

I ask this due to my need to both immediately (non-urgently) and in the near-ish future (when it is done, it will be vital). So, in summary of one sentence with another, just read the headline and reply yes/no. Super (duh...)AlpacaDoggie Mask.gif 19:15, 13 November 2012 (EST)

In one word...nope. I brought it up on Jake's talk page, but I'll ask him again. Also noticed that the same error comes up when trying to edit interwiki links. ~SuperHamster Talk 23:03, 13 November 2012 (EST)
(while we're here, would you mind checking out the latest discussion (Staff Schedule) on the Wiki Staff Discussion? Thanks!) ~SuperHamster Talk 23:08, 13 November 2012 (EST)

Nookipedia E-mails[edit]

Hey, do you know where I can access my e-mail for Nookipedia like the one Jake has? I have been busy trying to find it. -mlnintendo97 (talk)

Hey there, I'm afraid you or I don't have one, as cool as that would be. As far as I know, Jake is the only one who has a Nookipedia email. ~SuperHamster Talk 01:01, 19 November 2012 (EST)
Thanks for your help! -mlnintendo97 (talk) 17:13, 19 November 2012 (EST)
Yeah, sorry mlnintendo97. Nookipedia email accounts are only given to site directors for use with site-related business. --Jake 14:07, 22 November 2012 (EST)

Want to join Fans of Antonio?[edit]

Hey SuperHamster, want to join a fanclub on here that I created, it was made for my favorite villager, Antonio, it is located here under Category:Fans of Antonio. We have only two members so far, being myself and Beanoz4. It would be really helpful if you would join, because I am aiming for about 10 members. -mlnintendo97 (talk) 13:00, 22 November 2012 (EST)

Sure, count me in! :) ~SuperHamster Talk 23:53, 22 November 2012 (EST)
Great! The link to the fanpage is under Category:Fans of Antonio. I will be adding you to our admin. list! Be sure to also add [ [Category:Fans of Antonio] ] (Without spacing) to your userpage! -mlnintendo97 (talk) 11:08, 23 November 2012 (EST)

Hello![edit]

Hello there! I'm new here, and I have a couple questions. One, I was wondering how you can color your username. (This is my first day, so I'm clueless about almost everything!) Two, I was wondering if you can check to see if I am editing well. So far I have edited Brewster and Olivia. I am probably going to edit more as I am finished talking (or typing). Just wanted to make sure I am doing things correctly! And third, I was wondering how to change my profile picture. Is that only a staff thing? ♠Thanks!♠ --SuperGecko 12:41, 25 November 2012 (EST)

Hey, welcome to Nookipedia! I like the name ;D Now on to your questions...
To change how your username appears (your 'signature'), click on the "My Preferences" tab up at the top of the page. There will be a section where you can change your signature in a textbox. Right now, here is what your basic signature code should look like (it may or may not already be in the textbox):
SuperGecko
To change the color, you can throw in a font tag, which would look like this:
<font color="#COLOR">SuperGecko</font>
Simply replace COLOR (but leave the hashtag) with the code of the color you want your signature to be (you can find color codes here).
Before you save your signature, make sure you check the checkbox below it that says "Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link)".
That's just the basic of formatting your signature; if you need any more help, feel free to ask.
As for your editing, everything looks good so far! Just make sure you don't use the word "you"; instead, refer to the player as just that, "the player." If you're looking for more things to edit, we still have a ton of material to cover regarding Animal Crossing: New Leaf - we're always looking for more content there.
Now as for your profile picture, looks like mlnintendo beat me to it and did a nice job explaining on his talk page.
Once again, welcome, and hope to see you around! Feel free to ask if you have more questions. ~SuperHamster Talk 23:46, 25 November 2012 (EST)

Thank you so much! And I see that i need to refer to "the player". I must have been typing fast. :) Thank you so much, again!--SuperGecko 16:07, 27 November 2012 (EST)

Thank you.[edit]

Thanks for the honored member status!--SpideyCanThrash 21:05, 4 December 2012 (EST)
