Thanks!

Thanks for spotting the speculative edits - I admit that I probably made a mistake there by missing those, since adding questionable unsourced content is never advisable. I've cleaned most of the mess up, but if you see anything I missed, feel free to revert. Thanks again! Red (talk)Red Snapper HHD Icon.png 12:01, December 19, 2016 (EST)

Happy holidays!

Nana

Hey Turtle, just wanted to let you know that I reverted your minor edit done to Nana only due to the fact that she wears that shirt in the many spin-offs. If she changes shirts in New Horizons, then we can update it to say from NL-PC. Just wanted to message you so you don't think I'm edit warring or anything. Kind regards, ZCJigglypuff(Talk) 03:42, January 26, 2020 (EST)

The reason I reverted your edit is to maintain consistency with the other villager pages, as no other villager has that distinguisher because their default shirts in the spin-offs are exactly the same as they are in New Leaf. That's why the spin-offs are excluded. The only exception to this rule is if a shirt has a completely different name in a spin-off than in New Leaf (Such as the Chain-Gang brand being renamed to "Wide-Stripe" to a Pocket Camp update).
To be honest, I think it would be rather hectic to list off EVERY single spin-off to these lists, as again, there are no instances where a villager's default shirt only applies to them. TurtleCrossing (talk) 16:06, January 26, 2020 (EST)

HHD Clothing Icons

Hello, first off I want to thank you for uploading all the Happy Home Designer top icons, that must have taken a while. A couple things though for future uploads: Our naming scheme is <item name> HHD Icon.png rather than <item name> (HHD).png. Also, we prefer for them to be uncropped (64x64), and the description shouldn't be "For userspace purposes." as they will be used across the wiki. Something like "Top icon from Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer." would work better. Lastly, we already have the dress icons in Category:Happy Home Designer dress icons so the new ones will be deleted in favor of them.

All of this will be taken care of by the staff, so no worries. We'll run text replaces on the descriptions, delete the duplicate dresses, and run a script to rename and reupload them. Again, thank you for your initiative! ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 23:17, August 10, 2020 (EDT)

Thanks. Also, I'm technically not quite done yet. There are a few shirts exclusive to HHD that I'm about to upload (as well as an unselectable one and what appears to be an unused one). TurtleCrossing (talk) 23:21, August 10, 2020 (EDT)

Good Job catching all of fish!

You did it! You catch all of fish in New Horizons, you will get a DIY of Golden Rod.

Congratulations! RDash75 Nook (talk) 23:53, December 1, 2020 (EST)

Staff?

Hi TurtleCrossing - I've noticed that you've been helping us for a long time, and I wonder if you'd be interested in applying for the Nookipedia staff? I think you would have a good chance of success and I would be happy to nominate you. Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 15:22, February 17, 2021 (EST)

Sorry for the late response, I was busy with some things (most namely the Nintendo Direct that just aired).
Anyway, go ahead. I am fairly active enough here and have made enough helpful edits that I think I could be a valid candidate for a staff member on this Wiki. TurtleCrossing (talk) 18:41, February 17, 2021 (EST)

Promotion!

Congratulations for becoming the part to the staff! Well deserved! If you have questions about the tools, see Nookipedia:Patrollers to see them or ask the staff about them. vmario97 (talk) 12:51, February 22, 2021 (EST)

Sorry for an additional notification on your talk page, but congratulations on your promotion to Patroller! I'm here to notify you that, now as a part of the staff team, joining the Nookipedia discord would be a fantastic idea. While it is completely optional, you would enjoy the benefits of extra channels for staff discussion. Discord is the main communication source for every other staff member, as well as containing a multitude of resources for future projects. If you have any questions, or need any assistance, feel free to ask any time. And again, congrats on the promotion. Lampshade59276 (talk) 20:35, February 22, 2021 (EST)

Licensing

Hey, not sure if this is the license you were looking for, but I think you could potentially add {{Self}}{{No distribute}} to the file you drew. I found these at Category:Licensing Templates. Or you could create your own version using Template:LicenseBox, so something like {{LicenseBox|Please ask for permission from the author if you would like to distribute this image}} or some other variation. HylianAngel (talk) 04:14, March 15, 2021 (EDT)

yo!

Make sure you're using Template:File Info properly, as you left much of the descriptors with their example text, or left the "(THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL)" part on the summary part, as shown here. It's something to keep in mind as our upload policy now requires images to have a description and a source using Template:File Info. And for the other descriptors that are not required, you can discard them if you have nothing else to say about those descriptors. That's all for me, happy editing! -- PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 03:22, April 13, 2021 (EDT)

Not gonna lie, I was kind of in a rush to fix the Coelacanth image, so I had little to no time to proofread, but I'll be sure to try to use File Info properly the next time I upload a new file to the Wiki. Similar HHD Requests

"I'm not really a fan of this cuz it seems like something that would require noting ALL of the other similar requests (like Dotty's in the case for Queenie and Roscoe), and trying to list off all of the similar requests seems rather arbitrary in my opinion, hence why I am removing this"

I wanted to mention that the system was not arbitrary, as the similar requests have similar names and also unlock similarly-themed (and usually identical) items. For example, Cheri, Clyde, and Tangy are the only 3 characters to have "fruity room" in their client's vision, and all 3 unlock fruit-related items. Dotty, Queenie, and Roscoe as far as I know are the only 3 to share the "black and white" client's vision, and all 3 unlock black and white items and Modern Series items. Flora and Puddles are the only 2 characters to specifically use the word "pink" in their client's vision. Lucha and Stinky are the only 2 to share "pro-wrestling" in their client's vision and have a huge intersecting portion of unlock items; the words "pro-wrestling ring" in Lucha's thought bubble are identical to Stinky's client's vision. In cases where there are 3 characters, it wouldn't make a large difference to mention both in the summary. Another case which I didn't get around to editing is how Cyrano and Egbert are mirrors of each other with their client's visions, which I definitely feel is worth noting and seems fairly intentional. I feel the similar requests and items are a strong enough connection, and groups shouldn't be any larger than 2 or 3, from my experience. (And one case that is definitely not disputable is Chrissy/Francine's, which I think sets at least some precedent that there are linked HHD requests. Also Klaus/Flip, though it helps that theirs are identical.) HylianAngel (talk) 04:01, May 1, 2021 (EDT)

Privacy discussion

Hi there! Hope you're well. You mentioned on RosieCat's talkpage that you had a discussion with Nookipedia's Directors - just wanted to check which discussion this was? Thanks! ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 17:32, June 6, 2021 (EDT)

That was actually a case of misinterpretation I had. I did not contact either Director. I just copy-pasted the text from another user talk page that had this message (albeit I altered it since as I only have Patroller status). When I said "due to a discussion with Nookipedia's Directors", I thought it was referring to a proposal to have the policy enforced instead of letting the user know I have contacted the Directors to inform said user they are violating the policy. I sincerely apologize for all the fuss and will be careful the next time I examine someone's userpage. The Jacketed Terrapin of the Turtle Tribe 17:46, June 6, 2021 (EDT)
Oh, gotcha, no worries! Was just curious, I appreciate you looking out for our young users. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 17:56, June 6, 2021 (EDT)

Villager IDs

Hello, I know you have a page listing villager IDs which I find very helpful. I was thinking about when the returning villagers come to New Horizons in the update, their IDs in this system will be known. You've cleverly figured out the order this system goes in, allowing us to speculate on what IDs missing villagers have. However, looking at it again, I realized something.

You said the third group is: "Villagers that appeared in Doubutsu no Mori e+, but did not return in Animal Crossing: Wild World. These villagers are ordered by their debut game (Doubutsu no Mori -> Doubutsu no Mori+ -> Doubutsu no Mori e+), but otherwise are in no particular order". However, I realized there is a particular order: the internal order they had in the GameCube games, which you can see here. For this group in particular (but not the group of Wild World villagers, they match up with the order the IDs had on the GameCube (sorting by name, not by numerical ID), including villagers who later returned to the series so we do know their IDs. This also confirms your theory on islanders coming after, since they have later GC IDs, although they did put them after e+ villagers. This allows us to solve the IDs of all villagers except for those with more than one exclusive to Doubutsu no Mori e+. As an example: goats in the second group go: Billy, ??? (goa03), Gruff, ??? (goa05), Velma, Kidd. Goats in GC go: Billy, Chevre (in group 1), Iggy, Gruff, Sven, Velma. Which says Iggy must be goa03 and Sven must be goa5.

With the impending addition of Frett and Chabwick, this leaves only one species with unknown IDs: the cubs, Aisle and Poko. I checked to see if any of the e+ villagers are in order of their e-Reader cards; alas, this is not the case. Maybe there is another pattern I'm not seeing. But still, we can figure out a lot more! By the way, User:SuperHamster had mentioned on Discord possibly making this an actual page, which might need a discussion, but I wanted to know what you thought of that. Thanks! Chubby Bub (talk) 03:29, October 20, 2021 (EDT)

I'm not really in the mood to discuss anything about the IDs, especially since I don't really edit any of my sandboxes here (aside from my "New Horizons Journal" one) anymore due to basically losing all interest in them. All I'm gonna say is that if anyone wants to claim "ownership" (for lack of a better term) of my sandboxes or move them to be mainspace articles, then be my guest (you can even merge my "List of IDs" page with yours, if you want). Edit summaries

Hi there! Hope you're doing well. Regarding this edit summary, I wanted to ask you to try to keep edit summaries focused on what you've changed. I doubt it was your intention, but summaries like that can come as as deprecating and discouraging to other editors. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 03:15, December 1, 2021 (EST)

Yeah, I was trying remind the editor to make use of stuff like Show preview and whatnot, but I realized that mistake was very minor and there didn't seem to be any recurring edits with spelling/grammar/coding mistakes from the editor, so I now realize why that summary was uncalled for.
