Wolves are a species of canine villager in the Animal Crossing series. They are characterized by their long slender muzzles, thin pointed ears similar to cats, tails with bristled tips, and spiky fur on the back of their heads and on their cheeks.

There are thirteen wolf villagers, of which eight are male and five are female, making it a predominantly male species. Of these, five are cranky, three are snooty, two are smug, one is normal, one is jock, and one is peppy. Dobie was originally a lazy islander before becoming a cranky villager in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo. There are currently no big sister or, as of Welcome amiibo, lazy wolves.

Tarou is the only wolf who has not reappeared since Doubutsu no Mori e+, and W. Link is missing from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. All of the wolves who appear in New Horizons also appear in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

As no wolf villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons have the jock or big sister personalities, it is one of three species in said game that can never be a starter villager. The other two species are the cow and the octopus.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, cranky wolves have unique dialogue, where they will occasionally state, "<catchphrase>, can't explain why, but the full moon sets my heart to racin'. Makes me just want to shout up at it!"
Chief, Lobo, and Wolfgang are the only wolves to appear in every game in the series.
