The yellow bird, possibly a canary or a goldfinch, is a bird that will sit and chirp on the Bulletin Board when one or more new messages have been posted. First appearing in Animal Crossing: City Folk and returning in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the yellow bird has no official name or gender. Normal villagers will sometimes mention the bird in conversations. When the player starts the game, a bird can be heard chirping. In New Leaf and New Horizons, at night, there is an owl instead. When the player approaches the Bulletin Board, the bird will fly away. The bird can be seen on the cover of City Folk on the sign. It has a four-leaf clover in its mouth.
The yellow bird also appears in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp if the player obtains a Folktale Forest Tree, in which it will appear perched inside a large hole within the tree.
