It can be scanned in Animal Crossing at the e-Reader Transfer Machine in the post office to receive a letter and gift from Bud, or on the Game Boy Advance by itself to display a different letter. The password on the card can also be sent in a letter to receive a letter and gift.

Scanning this card at the e-Reader Transfer Machine in the post office causes Bud to immediately send the player a letter that contains an ebony piano. The letter reads:

Mailing the password

Typing the password printed on the card into a letter and mailing it to any villager causes Bud to send the player a letter that contains a djimbe drum after two more days of playing. The letter reads:

Whoa! What's up? Get
things squared away so
you can come hang out
with me and enjoy some
reggae! It'll
be awesome, dood!

Scanning on the Game Boy Advance

Scanning this card while the Game Boy Advance is not connected to Animal Crossing displays the following message from Bud:

Wanna know why?
