"A print from the mid-Edo period by Tōshūsai Sharaku depicting a famous actor of the time. Sharaku made roughly 140 ukiyo-e prints in his career, even though it only spanned around 10 months!"
— Art description

The scary painting is a wall-mounted furniture item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduced in the 1.2.0 April Free Update. In addition to walls, it can be placed on the floor, being displayed on an easel. As a painting, it can be donated to the museum. It also has a forgery version that cannot be donated or sold. The artwork depicts Ōtani Oniji the 3rd as Yakko Edobei (三代目大谷鬼次の奴江戸兵衛 Oniji Otani III No yakkoedobei?), drawn in 1794 by Japanese artist Tōshūsai Sharaku.

The scary painting can be obtained from Jolly Redd's Treasure Trawler or Redd's Co-Op on Harv's Island for  4,980 Bells or from any villager in the mailbox.

No villagers have this item in their home.

In Happy Home Paradise, this item is unlocked for use in designing when doing a vacation home request for Shino.
