Mario Bros is an NES game furniture item in Doubutsu no Mori+ and Animal Crossing. It can be placed on the surface of tables and other similar furniture that have surfaces for items. This item is a playable NES game, and the player can interact with it to play Mario Bros.

In Animal Crossing Mario Bros can be obtained in a letter from Tom Nook after the player scans e-Reader card N02 at the e-Reader Transfer Machine in the post office. In Doubutsu no Mori+, Mario Bros can only be obtained by generating a secret code using the player's name and town name; however, Nintendo never officially distributed the generator for this game on their website, so it is not legitimately obtainable (a third-party code generator must be used). In Animal Crossing, Mario Bros is not a valid item that a secret code can be created for.

This item does not appear in the catalog. It does not have any color for the purpose of fêng shui. This item is lucky, meaning it gives a 777-point Happy Room Academy bonus when placed in the player's house.

No villagers have this item in their home.

Version differences

Mario Bros in Doubutsu no Mori+

In Doubutsu no Mori+, Mario Bros is modeled after a Famicom rather than a Nintendo Entertainment System. Since e-Reader functionality was removed in the European version of Animal Crossing, this item cannot be obtained in that version without the use of cheats.

Leftover dummy item

The dummy model used by unused items.

In Doubutsu no Mori e+, Mario Bros is still leftover in the game data as a dummy item, unobtainable without gameplay modification or glitches. As with all dummy items in Doubutsu no Mori e+, its name appears as "かぐ?" (kagu?, furniture?) in the player's inventory. However, when dropped on the ground outside, its name from Doubutsu no Mori+ is shown. It uses the dummy model from Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+, a white triangle with red Japanese text reading ダミー (damī, dummy). The item cannot be placed down in the player's house if in their inventory.

Gameplay of Mario Bros.

Mario Bros. is an arcade game released in 1983 that was later ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was later on remade as a minigame in Super Mario Bros. 3 and the Super Mario Advance series.

The objective is for the player (controlling Mario or Luigi) to defeat enemies by jumping up and hitting the floor below to kick them off the stage. The player uses the +Control Pad Left & Right.svg to move and A Button.svg to jump. The player can also use POW blocks to kill enemies, but a POW block can only be used three times. Coming into contact with an enemy kills the player. If the player loses all their lives, the game is over.
