Animal Crossing: New Leaf

In Animal Crossing (GCN), the music at midnight is a slow shuffle. An eerie, vibrating synthesizer plays over a minimalist drum-set. A xylophone played with rubber mallets plays a supporting melody with a chime-like sound playing intermittently. The key is in F-major.

In Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, the piece is somewhat subdued, with a synthesizer and accordion utilizing a parallel key modulation between C-major and C-minor. Low-brass chip tune elements substitute the bass line along with percussion and snaps.

The midnight (0 or sometimes 24 in 24 hour notation) song in Animal Crossing: New Leaf features ascending and descending piano arpeggios, electric guitar, electric drum-set, and rhythmic snapping throughout the piece. The key is in D-flat major.
