The music festival is an event held on the Archipelago's main island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise, taking place over multiple days. The festival is headlined by DJ KK, who performs on stage at the northern beach playing house remixes of K.K. Slider songs. These remixes are similar to those previously featured at Club LOL in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, but with altered transitions. A remix of the design job leitmotif is played during DJ KK's initial entrance, as well as during intermissions. Remixes for all of K.K. Slider's songs can be heard during the festival, with the exception of "K.K. Birthday."
In Happy Home Paradise[edit]
Initial occurrence[edit]
The festival does not initially occur in the game. After the player designs 20 homes for Paradise Planning, Lottie tasks them with making preparations for a music festival on the island by designing 10 further homes, as well as a hospital and an apparel shop. Once these have been completed, DJ KK will arrive to the archipelago to begin the festival. The player, Lottie, Niko, and Wardell immediately travel to the festival site, and an interactive cutscene begins where they dance to music while a visual recap is shown of all of the player's completed design projects. The sequence ends with a "thank you" message from the game's development team.
Following the event, Wardell surprises the others by revealing that he was able to invite DJ KK, as they are personal friends. When everyone returns to the office, Lottie will teach the player the following reactions:
Grooving Hop
Groove Right
Groove Left
Soak It In
Side-to-Side
Island Stomp
Airplane
Twisty Dance
Shimmy
Turnip Patch
Arm-Swing Dance
Subsequent occurrences[edit]
Following the inaugural event, the music festival is held again every two weeks, lasting from 6 PM on Sunday to 12 AM on Tuesday without stopping. Each festival's occurrence is exclusive to each player living on the main island. After several occurrences, the schedule will shift to occur two days later every two weeks. In the days leading up to the festival, wooden pillars with custom gobo lights and banners will be gradually assembled on the beaches, and Floor lamps, Glowing-moss balloons, Glowing-moss stools, and Palm-tree lamps, all in various colors, will appear around the island. A large stage will also be erected above the waterline by the northern beach.
When the festival is live, colored lights and lasers will be shone from the stage and from the towers on the beach. The gobo lights in the towers will create patterns on the beach sand, which occasionally form the shape of the Paradise Planning emblem. Glowing sprites can be seen floating through the air outside at night, while tropical flowers can be seen during the daytime. Music is heard at full volume when the player is close to the stage at the northern beach, but decreases as the player moves away, and can still be heard faintly from across the island.
Niko will notify the player that the festival has begun upon their arrival to the island, while Lottie will encourage the player to ensure they take time off work to enjoy the festivities. All villagers on the island's exterior will congregate at the northern beach to dance to the music for the full duration of the event. Villagers who have had houses designed and now reside on the island as tourists wear festival-related apparel, while potential clients continue to wear their regular outfits. Despite participating in the event, tourists and clients can be fully engaged with as usual.
The interactive dance sequence can be experienced again by speaking with a character on the island, and selecting the option "Let's go dancing!". The player can perform specific dance moves by pressing ,
, or by pressing different directions on
. Fellow dancers will synchronise their dance moves with the player after several seconds. If a facility staff member is invited, the villagers on the beach will be replaced during the sequence by all of the characters currently inhabiting the facility (both villagers and special characters). Wilbur can also be invited to dance, in which case the opening part of the sequence will focus on him instead of the player. If the player wears their work uniform while dancing, the dance moves they perform will be visually different due to player character still holding their clipboard.
Apparel[edit]
During a music festival, the apparel shop will always stock festival-related merchandise, the availability of which changes each day of the event. Though many of the items can be purchased from Able Sisters, the DJ KK logo tee and Paradise Planning event tee can only be obtained from the apparel shop during the event.

Notes[edit]
- ↑ Subsequent occurrences after experiencing the initial festival. These initially begin on a Sunday, and conclude the following Tuesday. After several occurrences, the schedule will shift by two days every two weeks.
- ↑ The event spans multiple days. The first occurrence is held immediately upon completion of Lottie's tasks to prepare for the festival, so the time of day will reflect the current time on the Nintendo Switch system clock.
