Nomination:
Hello everyone, I'm proposing a new role here at the wiki, Editor-in-Chief. This role would have the same abilities as a Bureaucrat, but would have the following unique responsibilities:
- Provides a vision for the future development and organization of the wiki.
- Organizes wiki projects, namespaces, and researches/makes recommendations regarding wiki extensions.
- Develops and maintains a Nookipedia Manual of Style.
- Encourages wiki-related discussion and settles disputes between editors.
I would also like to propose that this title only be held for one year, at which time it must be reapplied for. Alternatively it will expire after three months of inactivity, whichever comes first.
If promoted into this role my priorities would include:
- Providing an enhanced mobile experience.
- Establishing a Nookipedia database.
- Working with other wikis (e.g. Smashwiki) to increase interwiki content/linking.
- Major revisions to the Guide namespace/focus on increasing click-through to other pages.

I just wanted to clarify that this new proposed role does not require any new tools, but I thought it would be strange for a user responsible for 'Providing a vision for the future development and organization of the wiki' not to assume the highest non-directorial staff position. Another option would be to establish a new role on the wiki back-end that was only different in title but not in tools (essentially a 'copy' of another role, but with a different title). I thought this was a bit pointless which is why I didn't suggest it. Also I'm more interested in the creation of this new role with the associated responsibilities than the advancement to any other existing position, so if this isn't the appropriate avenue for this sort of proposition do let me know. Nomination:
I have now been an administrator for two years. During that time, I've been consistently active, something that unfortunately not everyone can possibly achieve. But in addition, I've contributed heavily (having made 3,700 edits including 2,300 in mainspace), and suggested ideas both here and on the Bulletin Boards. Furthermore, I am also gaining more moderating experience over there (on the forums) as time goes by. Therefore, I hope you can consider me as the next Bureaucrat. It's a position occupied by only two users (one of which is inactive) and I believe I can help fill that void. My plans include helping the wiki in any way I can, and hopefully dealing with issues and duties that come up from time to time (such as renames, promotions etc.). - You have shown to be a fairly active user, which is great because we need all the help we can get on this site. Do I think you are ready? I'm afraid not. The only edits I've seen you make recently are on your user page , which while is fun (trust me I love editing mine), I don't think 71 edits on the mainspace is enough to be considered even a trustee. Additionally , on Mario's talk page, you have said rather questionable things to him/her, and have at times been rather immature or inappropriate, such as when you gave them a "second chance ", they simply asked you what you meant, to which you replied "That's what Christians say and Christians only." User conduct is also an important part of being a staff member, as you'll be both a representative of Nookipedia and a contact for new editors to receive help. In addition, your activity on other NIWA wikis is also important, as not only does your conduct on other wikis reflect on your overall ability to edit, but being a staff member of Nookipedia means you serve as an ambassador and representative to the rest of the organization. Slider's songs, I know the policies like the back of my hand, I fixed a stub, and removed it when all the info was there in the Cricket article, I also added useful information in the past, im willing to help other users out, now I now what's right from wrong on the Wiki. - I have to agree completely with Mario. While it's nice to see you are dedicated to improving the site (and your daily activity supports this), you need a lot more experience before we can grant you staff tools. I think the last sentence of your application about applying repeatedly until you get promoted also demonstrates a lack of maturity and makes me question if you are taking the application process seriously. - In agreement with Red Snapper here. You've done a lot for the wiki in terms of adding appropriate images to our pages- I do appreciate your work there. And your edits have improved over the time you've been here, even if they aren't particularly substantive. That said, I'm not sure if you are particularly ready or qualified to patrol edits yet. - We do appreciate another applicaion, but I think you applied way too early. You haven't much edits on the main page, and that's a big factor in becoming even a patroller. Being a staff member doesn't only mean you'll get more tools. It's kind of a big responsibility. My recommendation: Wait a couple of months, and do more edits on the main page. I agree that you're made some great contributions so far, and have experience elsewhere. You'd make a great administrator I'm sure, but since this is your first application and you haven't been here long - you would be better off applying for the Patroller position rather than jumping straight to Administrator. We're currently in need of Patrollers (once Sunmarsh gets promoted, we'll have none!) but already have a plentiful supply of Administrators. - Let's be frank: you don't have the experience nor the knowledge to be a patroller. The only tools you get are deletion, being able to edit a few protected pages (which are protected for a reason), marking edits as patrolled, deleting pages and images, and rollback. Normal users can already contribute significantly; the vast majority of my edits, for instance, can be done with any other user. I suspect the reason it's so limited for you is that you're yet to be autoconfirmed. Better edits come from experience, not from promotions, and to free yourself from limits, you have to earn the extra little freedom. It's all a matter of trust and dependability. Again, though, promotions aren't that much anyway (in paper at least; in practice, people tend to look up to you more). If everyone had delete tools, it would be more of a hassle to clean up after vandalism and images, which are more difficult to restore, would get deleted as well. After being promoted to Patroller a while back, I've continued to be an active editor with page expansions and such, and over the past few months I have made a few suggestions, joined our furniture project and followed policy pretty well. I've edited wikis (mainly MarioWiki, with 9,702 edits, 3,980 in the mainspace, 2,077 on files, and 1,249 on MarioWiki pages which includes voting on featured articles and proposals) for three years and I've shown this experience by the number and quality of my edits. I've also been on this wiki nearly every day for more than a few months now, since September 5, 2013. Although the template says I have edited 764 times at the moment of this writing, my edit count is actually 1,135 when you factor the other 30% of file uploads and others. I've also created two help pages. I also created wanted pages, organized a few personality pages, brought up many suggestions and questions, and minor things like grammar, removing unnecessary stubs, adding templates. I review other user's edits frequently. I'm not listing everything I've done so far, but here is my contributions. I'm an experienced user who will be glad with having some more tools to work with. I've been a patroller for Nookipedia for about a year, and have recently begun to increase my activity in regards to both editing and patrolling. I've edited and have created a number of pages, such as the Garden Center, and am currently working on updating each Villager's Page with their New Leaf artwork. I'm experienced with other NIWA wikis as well, and have formed many friendships over the last 1 ½ years with others, particularly on Zelda Wiki as xXSuperXXNintendoXx, Bulbapedia, Super Mario Wiki, and Icaruspedia. I would love to assist Nookipedia as much as I can and that's why I think I'm ready to take on the task as being Nookipedia's newest Adminisrtator. Thank You. Relatively new, but has been a tremendous help to the wiki, major contributions including the foreign names template and finishing up the list of villagers I was too lazy busy to finish up myself. Along with experience in several other wikis, Wookiee's shown strong experience in both articles and media, along with communicating politely and professionally, asking questions when needed. - I'll be happy to support before the end of the app's duration once I see a little bit of activity throughout the week (even just a few edits), just to ensure activity. I have no doubt you'd be a great staff member, and even though I see a great editor at ZeldaWiki, I'm uneasy with giving someone a staff position here when they have 0 edits to Nookipedia, for the sake of fairness. In my mind, work on another wiki can definitely be a factor to become a staff member, but can't be the primary and only justification.
