Proposal to reduce autoconfirmed time requirement[edit]

Over the past few years, there have been several staff discussions on The Bulletin Boards and on Discord proposing that autoconfirmed requirements be reduced. These never reached a resolution, so I am now going to make a new proposal here. I personally think that we should reduce the time requirement to four days instead of a week, but still require 10 edits to become autoconfirmed. Reducing this wait will make things more convenient and accessible for new users (especially as some key abilities, such as editing templates, require autoconfirmation), while still giving us strong protection against vandalism. - I Support it. I think it's a great idea to change that! It's similar on Fandom and it's very convenient. Kalina (talk) 19:17, August 6, 2021 (CET)
- Clarifying to avoid confusion: the Fandom wiki doesn't allow any editing until a user has waited for days. On Nookipedia, anyone can edit with or without an account, and regardless of account age, and that won't change; autoconfirm here just grants a small set of additional permissions, such as the ability edit templates or move pages. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 05:16, August 7, 2021 (EDT)
- Support - I agree with this. The users who would want to perform these types of edits (move pages, edit templates etc.) usually have some previous wiki experience, and it would be great to allow them to do so as soon as possible/encourage them to edit here. (talk) 23:18, August 6, 2021 (EDT)
- Support per above, four days is enough and it would be better to lift restrictions for constructive users sooner rather than later. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 05:18, August 7, 2021 (EDT)
- Support per the others. -- PanchamBro (talk • contributions) 06:30, August 7, 2021 (EDT)
