Incorrect image origin

I've just received a message regarding this file. The user claims that this image is not from 'Animal Crossing 2', but is actually from Animal Forest. Do we have any proof that this image is actually from the cancelled game? If not, we should probably remove the image. --Jake 19:16, 16 November 2010 (EST)

It was taken from the Animal Crossing 2 page on IGN.com. I cropped it a little, but yeah, that is where I got it from. And what was their reason for saying that, anyways? Super (duh...)AlpacaDoggie Mask.gif 22:29, 16 November 2010 (EST)
Well I guess the first question should be: What in this picture makes it different to Animal Forest? What new things in the picture make it Animal Crossing 2? I can't really tell the difference :/ - MerrytonRyan 12:46, 17 November 2010 (EST)
What about the picnic. And were either of the villagers new in AF+ or AFe+? Super (duh...)AlpacaDoggie Mask.gif 15:27, 17 November 2010 (EST)
Apparently picnics existed in Animal Forest+ in an event called "Ohanami", where a picnic is set up outside the shrine. It's where you get the "cherry blossom tree" model, from Tortimer. Is that the only thing that makes this "Animal Crossing 2"? Because it seems this may just be a screenshot of Ohanami from Animal Forest+. - MerrytonRyan 15:37, 17 November 2010 (EST)
I will start looking for more info, but IGN is a decent source, it is not like a random blog... But still, I will see if other sources turn up with the same image. The game was supposedly going to be more AFy. Wow! AFy is a real word!!! Super (duh...)AlpacaDoggie Mask.gif 15:43, 17 November 2010 (EST)
It is now :D. Dragonfree 15:57, 17 November 2010 (EST)
I found a bit of information on it from a quick Google search. I can't tell what's different about this picture :P Also, is the "Watch this page" feature broken? I don't seem to get emails on here :/ - MerrytonRyan 16:12, 17 November 2010 (EST)

Sources?

There are no sources for this upcoming game, and none of the screenshots in this article were apparently valid. No sources and a "theory" template taking up half the page. Yeah, I'm starting to doubt Animal Crossing 2's existence. Mario Signature.png 15:18, July 21, 2014 (EDT)

The game was announced, but there's nothing else to the page because, as far I can tell, there was no further information released after the initial announcement(s). Judging by the previous section, IGN's Animal Crossing 2 page is probably the source; more specifically, Nintendo's announcement of Animal Crossing 2/Animal Forest 2 is referenced in this article, which came from Famitsu, according to another site. Other sites without the whole list just say the game was mentioned by Miyamoto in interviews. -Sky (talk) 16:22, July 21, 2014 (EDT)
Ok, I guess we can go with these. Mario Signature.png 16:23, July 21, 2014 (EDT)

Merge with Animal Crossing

This article is a largely speculative stub, and as an unreleased title there is no further scope for expansion. I think we should merge what little info we have with Animal Crossing. --Dorsal Axe (talk) 06:02, November 6, 2019 (EST)

To be honest, I think that the 'Animal Crossing 2' being referenced by Famitsu is Doubutsu no Mori e+. The gamecubicle article linked by Sky (third link) notes that it is scheduled for a 2003 Japanese release, which is when DnMe+ came out. It's hard to say, when we don't have access to the original source. We could certainly include a section at the bottom of the Animal Crossing page though about the supposed sequel... which may or may not be DnMe+, or WW, or CF, or cancelled lol... Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 23:12, November 10, 2019 (EST)
I have merged the page in Animal Crossing (GCN)#Planned sequel, although without the speculation part, including File:AC2.jpg, since it is believed to be a screenshot (according to previous discussion). Whether the speculation should be retained or not is open to debate, but I decided against including it since it is, after all, speculation. The only pages I have looked at that mention it are Wikia pages; this page lists it as "Moved to DS," but it is unsourced. Nevertheless, I think it's safe to delete this page. >Decomposer Curiosity NL Icon.png Pride NL Icon.png 06:37, December 8, 2019 (EST)
I've turned it into a redirect. Thanks, Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 13:02, December 8, 2019 (EST)
