Using official terms[edit]

If they're official terms, should we use them? As it's stated by SuperHamster in the (now-deleted) discussion with Reef Fish group,

"The only issue I have with this is that we have articles for other groups of fish (bass, salmon, etc.). I'm assuming that these groups aren't "officially" established within the game, correct (it's been a few years since I've played)? If we're going to remove this list, I think we might as well remove the other group pages, too (as I don't think they are very useful, either). We could merge any useful content from the group pages onto the main fish page if needed."

I agree with him. If we need some organization, we can always use categories. They probably serve a better purpose without creating a bunch of pretty useless articles. Mario Signature.png 14:18, May 13, 2015 (EDT)

They do not appear to be official terms. Not once are the fish families mentioned in the games (even Blathers doesn't say anything about them), so they may just be groups of related fish that an editor made up when we were still Animal Crossing City. If even says in the article that they are "unofficial groups which Animal Crossing players use to divide fish into groups." So these families are conjecture and convenience. I propose we just turn these "families" into categories so we shed a useless page while having a category that's useful for editors and readers, if readers use categories. :P Mario Signature.png 16:21, May 15, 2015 (EDT)
I've created new categories to replace the fish group pages, and deleted the 'Fish families and groups' article. Should we turn the other fish group pages into redirects (to the new categories) or simply delete them? Red (talk) Red Snapper WW Sprite.png 12:16, June 18, 2015 (EDT)
You should probably delete the links and remove the other fish group pages. Mario Signature.png 15:38, June 18, 2015 (EDT)
