Talk:Kapp'n's Song

From Nookipedia, the Animal Crossing wiki

Lyrics[edit]

I think the lyrics to Kapp'n's Sea Shanty should be included in the article. I know a lot of them in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, but I'm not writing them unless my idea is approved of. Friangirl (talk) 22:10, July 18, 2017 (EDT)

We do have script pages here, so I don't see why having Kapp'n's lyrics here too would be a problem. Drago (talk) DragoPicACNL.png 05:53, July 19, 2017 (EDT)
I'm just not sure if there's some certain coding I should use to write the lyrics? Coding is really new to me. Maybe if someone could just get it started, I could write it. Friangirl (talk) 12:54, July 19, 2017 (EDT)
Maybe try writing it in italics? This is a mobile edit I'm making right now, so I might find a better solution later. If you didn't want to test it on the article, you could always use the sandbox. Drago (talk) DragoPicACNL.png 14:09, July 19, 2017 (EDT)
I don't have the guts to start it myself, so I'm going to wait until someone else can start it. Friangirl (talk) 20:20, July 19, 2017 (EDT)

Restore as a subpage for Kapp'n?[edit]

Closing discussion in favor of page restoration. Lyrics have been inserted into the new page & should be checked for accuracy & completeness. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 17:45, July 30, 2021 (EDT)

It was decided a long time ago that background music doesn't quantify their own article, however I do feel like Kapp'n's Sea Shanty should've been a subpage of Kapp'n that lists all the shanties he sings while he takes the player to and from Tortimer Island. -- PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 01:39, May 6, 2021 (EDT)

Sounds good to me. I'd Support Support adding the lyrics from Animal Crossing and New Leaf to a subpage of Kapp'n. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 21:48, May 25, 2021 (EDT)
Support Support restoration + addition of lyrics, but I would rather see it at Kapp'n's Song than a subpage. Subpages should be used when the subpage is a subset of the parent article (like a villager gallery, or how we list furniture in a specific game at Furniture/Game), and I think Sea Shanty stands as a standalone topic and song, similar to KK Slider's tracks. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 14:10, June 29, 2021 (EDT)
Support Support - I agree with Alex & SH's comments here, that including the text of the sea shanties would be enough to reinstate the page. I also agree that it should be a standalone page as opposed to a subpage, unless we were to go the route of documenting dialog for each special character... which is an entirely separate endeavor. Rename to "Kapp'n's sea shanty/shanties" (without capitalization)[edit]

2 months later, and the consensus is in favor of a move to Kapp'n Song. -- PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 03:34, October 10, 2021 (EDT)

I believe "Kapp'n's Sea Shanty" is not a proper noun and more of a conjectural term. It does not need to have "Sea" and "Shanty" capitalized. This is why I'm proposing to rename this page to "Kapp'n's sea shanty/shanties". -- PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 14:54, August 1, 2021 (EDT)

Support Support and move to plural - I'm not a sailor but I guess each song can be considered it's own shanty. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 15:09, August 1, 2021 (EDT)
Support Support moving to "Kapp'n's Song" per the below discussion; terminology in Smash Bros doesn't hold a lot of weight to me but it's all we've got and better than coming up with our own terminology. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 22:47, September 6, 2021 (EDT)
Support Support moving to "Kapp'n's sea shanties" per the above. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 15:26, August 1, 2021 (EDT)
After seeing the most recent edit to this page, I'd instead support a move to Kapp'n's Song, since that's its official name in the Super Smash Bros. games. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 20:46, August 1, 2021 (EDT)
Support Support - I wonder what other songs are in SSB... Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 23:43, August 1, 2021 (EDT)
Weak Oppose Oppose - I wouldn't be so certain to use a term that is only exclusive to the Super Smash Bros. series, especially since many users aren't here for Smash information, they're here for New Leaf and Population Growing information. I can support making it a redirect, but I don't think I can support a move to Kapp'n's Song. -- PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 01:48, August 2, 2021 (EDT)
While the term only exists in the Super Smash Bros. series, it's the only official term for the song, and we should use official names for pages whenever possible. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 13:18, August 3, 2021 (EDT)
Strong Support Support for "Kapp'n's Song" from me. This is the only official name for the song, and it's how I've always thought of it. Plus, it means pretty much the same thing, but once again it's an official name. I don't think the name being from Smash makes it less valid. Also, I don't know if this has any bearing either, but in my experience this is how the fandom and people online refer to the song. Chubby Bub (talk) 16:57, August 3, 2021 (EDT)

Please help in fixing the tabs[edit]

I noticed that the tabs to view Kapp'n's Song for different games are placed in the wrong order, which makes it confusing to know where the tabs are. I tried my best in fixing them, but it was too confusing. Please send help in fixing the tabs. Heroman1234 (talk) 13:01, December 5, 2023 (EST)
