Talk:Large Char

Merge suggestion[edit]

The majority support merging the two pages. All of the Large Char information is now on the Char page. HylianAngel (talk) 16:35, July 22, 2022 (EDT)

So both the Large Char and the Char in later games have a virtually identical name in Japanese:

おおイワナ for the former
オオイワナ for the latter

Both of these in Hepburn are "Ō iwana", with the only difference being that the first name has the "o" kana written in hiragana, while the second has it written in katakana instead.

Since we did merge the Mountain Beetle and the Miyama Stag pages due to both sharing a Japanese name, as well as these two only having a difference in how one specific kana is written, should these two fish be merged into one page? Support Support Makes sense to me! The names are basically identical, ignoring the hiragana/katakana difference. There are a lot of items in Japanese that are essentially the same but the name changed from hiragana to katakana at some point, so it checks out that they are the same fish. Plus the Large Char and Char don't appear in any of the same games, and they have identical availability timeframes, which are strong indicators they are meant to be the same fish.
