Talk:Niko

Niko should be listed as a monkey, not a langur[edit]

It really doesn't make sense to me why he isn't considered a monkey, when as a langur he's automatically a monkey. It's no different from saying Harriet is a dog when she's specifically stated to be a poodle, which is a type of dog. From what I can gather, this decision was made on the basis that the wiki considers characters like Wilbur Dodos rather than Birds, but that's completely different as far as I'm concerned, as "Birds" as Animal Crossing calls them are basically songbirds, so different from other species that are birds as we would call them. 88.105.80.200 16:53, October 18, 2021 (EDT)

I believe we haven't established a rule regarding the species of each animal, but I can tell you that we've came to the basis that he's a Langur on the Discord. -- PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 17:07, October 18, 2021 (EDT)
To clarify, gray langur comes from the Happy Home Paradise website - Niko's red icon around the middle of the page has the alt text "Niko, a gray langur". ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 01:20, October 27, 2021 (EDT)
I'd be open to hearing your reasoning as to the species designation of special characters, but the argument that 'the species should be as general as possible' is just as arbitrary as 'the species should be as specific as possible'. We try to use in-game text or official sources when making these types of decisions, so individual preference is not the most convincing argument. Niko refers to himself as female for one phrase[edit]

Small thing, not sure if it needs to be added, but maybe as trivia - on version 2.0.6, russian language, after restaurant was built Niko refers to himself as female https://sun9-24.userapi.com/impg/7ov1zH_bPhwwgeUEvNL3Xs3aN3bl-epKX4NnUQ/gMmuT3-y1mw.jpg?size=1280x720&quality=95&sign=4c5b6888c2649544d2e509a0e09c8c40&type=album Niko: Why am I not as calm(feminine form), unflappable(feminine) and collected(feminine) as Wardell... - unsigned comment from 91.211.5.164 (talkcontribs)
