Template talk:See Also Villager

About New Horizons being the only specific game within this template

So I noticed that on the "See Also" section of every villager's page lists the "List of villagers" page, but the ones that appear in New Horizons also have the "List of villagers in New Horizons" page listed, whereas the ones that don't just have the "List of villagers" page and nothing else.

I'm curious as to why only the "List of villagers in New Horizons" page is in this template and not the other "List of villagers" pages correlating to the other games (i.e. the original, Wild World, City Folk, and New Leaf). The Jacketed Terrapin 11:52, May 13, 2022 (EDT)

The template could be modified to do that. Right now it just checks if a villager is in the "New Horizons characters" category and then adds "List of villager in New Horizons" if they are. So that part of the syntax would just need to be copy-pasted (while modifying the game name) for it to show all of the lists.

I'm thinking maybe the only reason it doesn't include PG/WW/CF/NL/PC along with NH is partially due to relevance and maybe redundancy. (More people are interested in New Horizons content as that is the latest game, and if it included every game, the list would be rather long, like here.) But that's just me guessing, and I'm neutral with either style. But either way, I modified the template just now, so that at least villagers who don't appear in NH have their "List of villagers in [latest entry they appeared in]" in their list. So like Medli's page also includes a link to the "List of villagers in New Leaf" page since the last game she was in was New Leaf. HylianAngel (talk) 04:21, May 20, 2022 (EDT)
