Template talk:TableHeader

From Nookipedia, the Animal Crossing wiki

I'm looking through the plants article with this template, and I noticed a few issues. The template's width doesn't correspond correctly with the amount of columns on the table. Second, the flowers part of the table has the info very scrunched up, which essentially one word per line, and there are six lines. Any idea we can manage this? The problems you're experiencing are not a result of faulty coding or the table displaying incorrectly. The width of the columns depends on three things: 1) the width of the browser window 2) the string length of the cell in the column with the largest string length and 3) the string length of the column heading. In the flower area, the reason there seems to be one word per line is because at that screen resolution the table shrinks as small as it can, and the column widths are mostly dependent on 3) the string length of the column heading, which for that column is "Info"- a very short word. It is possible to manually set the widths of the column either to an exact value (e.g. 30px), or a percentage of the page (e.g. 10%), but seeing as the template will be placed on a variety of pages, while it may fix display issues on this page, it may cause issues on another page where there is not as much data in the Info column, and more data elsewhere. Other options are increasing the percentage of the page the table spans (it's at 80% now) or making the font size of the data within the table smaller. Issues on combining clothes and accessories (and a question on fortune)[edit]

The following is a use case when clothes and accessories are combined:

Warrior Look

Item Image Buy Price Sell Price Available From Color(s) Style Info
Roman Helmet - 1,200 300 Able Sisters Yellow / Yellow Cool Helmet

Please enter a title.

Item Image Buy Price Sell Price Available From Color(s) Season Style
Gold Armor Suit - 540 135 Able Sisters Yellow / Yellow All Cool

This implementation has issues. The title cannot be removed, and, if TableFooter|div=false were to be used, this text, until the end of the Talk page, would have a yellow background.

I am looking for a possible way where both the season of the clothes and info of the accessory (e.g., whether helmet or something) could be viewed, although I have yet to find such. Or should I not do it, and instead just use type=clothing?

In addition, may I ask the purpose of collection=fortune? Using all possible values of parameter type yields it having no headers, thus I can't seem to know its purpose. Decomposer (talk) 06:26, January 5, 2019 (EST)

ACNH Fish Table Adjustments[edit]

Hi all, as per the discussion on Talk:Fish/New_Horizons, we were thinking about changing the ACNH fish column titles, so that instead of just "Tank" we would have "Tank Size" and "Tank Type" or something similar, and possibly remove the "Size" column since that information may not be available. I would have edited the template myself but do not have permission. Greensleeves22 (talk) 15:39, June 4, 2020 (EDT)

I've gone ahead and made the changes for you. My apologies that it took so long! Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 17:18, June 8, 2020 (EDT)

PC template suggestions[edit]

I'm looking into expanding the Pocket Camp set pages, and have noticed while looking at the already-existing ones that there are some things with current table options that are either redundant or unused for every instance of some of the event types. Fortune cookies already have their own which is customized to what they always need, so this got me thinking that maybe it would make sense for other event sets to get something like that

  • For Fishing Tourney event sets, items are obtained through Total Size Goals, Chip Challenges, or sometimes both, depending on the item. They are never crafted, so the "Materials and Price" and "Crafting Time" columns will always be non-applicable (at least for the tourneys up to now). Perhaps removing these would make sense for that one if they will never be used unless something changes about the game. Also, the "Unlock By" section seems like it is pretty redundant, if the page is saying you unlock these items by playing the event, to me it seems like that is already enough information and saying "Unlock Event" or the name of that specific tourney on each item every time may not be necessary, in my opinion, but if this is needed for site consistency I can understand that. For this category, it seems like the necessary categories would be "Item," "Image," "Theme," "Obtain By," "Sell Price," and "Size" (if "Unlock By" is not needed). It may or may not also make sense to separate the "Obtain By" into categories for "Chip Challenge Rewards" and "Total Size Goal Rewards" or something similar, although not every tourney has furniture/clothing rewards for Chip Challenge rewards, so it might be fine to just list them together under "Obtain By" on tourneys that do give this.
  • For Scavenger Hunt event sets, it looks like all categories are currently used, however, it also seems like "Unlock By" and "Obtain By" are redundant here too. The answer to these will always be "Unlock Event" and "Crafting" respectively, which to me seems like it is explained by the introduction of the page, saying that the items are obtained through the crafting event. Again, if this is for site consistency sake, I understand, but just thought it was worth pointing out. In this case, "Unlock By" and "Obtain By" would be the 2 columns I suggest removal of.
  • For Garden Event sets, similar to the fishing ones, "Materials and Price" and "Crafting Time" are never used, so they could probably be removed. This one also has the same situation with "Unlock By" feeling redundant after the page's introduction. Items in these are obtained mostly by completing the tasks of catching certain amounts of each creature, and in most events there are also some items where duplicates can be obtained by trading flowers. Like with fishing, this could either be all under one "Obtain By" or could be split into categories of "Task Rewards" and "Trade Rewards" or something similar. For this one it seems like it could be the same as fishing with "Item," "Image," "Theme," "Obtain By," "Sell Price," and "Size," unless the obtain column is split for either or both of these.
  • Not about a specific event, but I also noticed that fortune cookies are the only ones to list rarity star levels. While I can see that this makes sense as they are the only items that have their chances of being obtained based on that star level, all items in the game do have a rarity level listed on their page in the catalog (even including amenities, fish, bugs, and flowers). Personally I can see reasoning to not bother including it, but since it is listed in the game I can see it making sense to include as well.

Absolutely open to discussion on any of this, but just some ideas I had ~ Poppliopal Popplio.png (talk) 02:59, November 21, 2020 (EST)
