User talk:MerrytonRyan

From Nookipedia, the Animal Crossing wiki

Hi Merryton. You remember Aeryka, right? Well she's come back out of nowhere on the old wiki, removed admin rights for Tomasto and Sofia, blocked Yowuza and I, deleted several MediaWiki namespace pages, and basically misused admin rights. As soon as you read this message, could you unblock myself and I should take care of the rest myself. Thanks, Dragonfree 14:57, 20 November 2010 (EST)

Damn, must of logged off just as you sent this message! Do you still need help with her? - MerrytonRyan 16:08, 20 November 2010 (EST)
I'm pretty sure he got everything sorted out. Aeryka has been banned permanently. MerrytonRyan, would you mind creating an account on the forum? There are some staff discussions over there that we'd love for you to join. :) --Jake 16:12, 20 November 2010 (EST)
It was about time she got banned. Her attitude towards other people was incredibly lousy and she was a few sandwiches short of a picnic at the best of times. She wasn't a big contributor anyway, and the Wiki had changed so much since she disappeared, and it was definitely not HER wikia *shudder*. Oh yes, I'm now registered on the forum :) - MerrytonRyan 16:17, 20 November 2010 (EST)
Great! I'll give you staff access right away. Be sure to check out this topic and let us know what you think of the proposal. :) --Jake 16:22, 20 November 2010 (EST)
Should I have access to that link? Because it says I do not have permission. Super (duh...)AlpacaDoggie Mask.gif 16:24, 20 November 2010 (EST)
I do not see anything either, is it the wrong thread or does SA lack the permissions too? :P - MerrytonRyan 16:26, 20 November 2010 (EST)
Super Moderator only maybe? Super (duh...)AlpacaDoggie Mask.gif 16:27, 20 November 2010 (EST)
You both should have access. I'm not sure why the permissions error is displayed. If it doesn't work, just know that it links to the first normal thread in the wiki staff forum. --Jake 16:27, 20 November 2010 (EST)
Speaking of permissions, it it possible that I could have the rights with the green username? Dragonfree 16:29, 20 November 2010 (EST)
I don't see anything other than the usual forums :( - MerrytonRyan 16:31, 20 November 2010 (EST)
Standby everyone. There may actually be a permissions error. Sorry about this MerrytonRyan. I didn't want your first experience on the forums to be a bad one. :P Dragonfree - yes. :) --Jake 16:33, 20 November 2010 (EST)
It's fine. I blame Aeryka. I'm not sure how MyBB works, unless it works similar to an IPB forum? - MerrytonRyan 16:35, 20 November 2010 (EST)
Yes, only it's free to use. We may upgrade to a paid forum solution at some time in the future. Using my test account, I've found no errors. Do any of you see this set of forums? --Jake 16:37, 20 November 2010 (EST)
Hmmm, interesting. The Staff forum is where the "Proposals" forum should be. Are you missing the Proposal forum? :S - MerrytonRyan 16:41, 20 November 2010 (EST)
Problem solved everyone. Turns out that I selected the 'Wiki Admin' group from the wrong drop box for only the two of you. :P --Jake 16:44, 20 November 2010 (EST)
Somehow I doubt that the forum error is Aeryka's fault... XD Dragonfree 16:46, 20 November 2010 (EST)

Hi - how are you doing? Could you please explain this revert? I looked at my edit again and I don't see how it qualifies as false information. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 19:12, 7 December 2010 (EST)

Addendum: I just noticed that as I typed that, Jake re-instated my edit. ~SuperHamster Talk 19:15, 7 December 2010 (EST)

Oh, I can explain that! I was going through the patrolled pages and was seeing which ones needed to be patrolled and I accidentally hit the "revert" button, but quickly pushed "endorse" but it seems it reverted it and the endorse action never came into effect. I've reverted the changes so it should work now. There are so many edits I need to go through! Thanks for contributing and sorry for the confusion :) - MerrytonRyan 19:20, 7 December 2010 (EST)
Edit: Seems Jake beat me to it! - MerrytonRyan 19:22, 7 December 2010 (EST)
I've done that a few times too Merryton while using the Patrol interface. I don't like how the controls move up and down with the page. I may just do some hacking and move the buttons to the top area for rapid clicking. :P --Jake 19:23, 7 December 2010 (EST)
I was about to message you asking if there was an easier way :P If you do hack it, perhaps we could have a list with 'select' boxes next to each edit with an "endorse" or "revert" button at the bottom, so we can do multiple edits at the same time. It is a bit of a dodgy interface, but you can't really do too much to change it. Either that, or we can patrol edits by clicking an image or "endorse" button somewhere in the "recent changes" page? It does seem weird to seperate them. - MerrytonRyan 19:27, 7 December 2010 (EST)
I've done similar things on Wikipedia. What also gets really annoying is when the page is not fully loaded and I go to click on a link - just as I am about to click it, a banner or image loads at the top of the page, and the link that I intended to click on moves down, making me accidentally click on a rollback button (in the worst scenario).
Thanks for the reply Merryton - just wanted to make sure that you didn't think that anything was wrong with my edit :) ~SuperHamster Talk 19:29, 7 December 2010 (EST)
I've moved the patrol buttons to what should be more of a constant location. I don't really want to damage this guy's extension (or our system), so I'll just leave the interface as it is for now. Maybe someday it will be updated to be more user friendly. --Jake 19:33, 7 December 2010 (EST)
You're welcome SuperHamster :) It must of felt weird getting an update saying it was changed because of "false information". It's strange it went through with the change, I remember click endorse the second I knew what I did :/ The update looks good Jake, it's amazing it doesn't come like that by default :/ - MerrytonRyan 19:41, 7 December 2010 (EST)
Rollback always does that, at least on Wikipedia. The instance one hits the rollback button, it processes through and there is no way to cancel it, even if you navigate away or select another option in the middle of it. Rollback is quite the beast (pardon my rather lame metaphor). ~SuperHamster Talk 19:51, 7 December 2010 (EST)

Hullo there![edit]

Gosh, I don't even know how to the mark up any more! It's Dabtowner here, remember me? Just to say I think the work you've all done to this site is fantastic, I hardly recognise it! I'm glad I was a part of helping out on this site; I hope you keep up the good work. :) It's a shame I can't come back to help out; I've got heaps on at the moment with my uni's LGBT group, but you never know, once Animal Crossing 3DS comes out, I might be willing to impart my wisdom once again!

Ah! Long time no see! I didn't know you went to Uni, what do you study? It'll be great to see you editing again :D Hopefully 3DS will help this :P - MerrytonRyan 07:56, 10 February 2011 (EST)
Dundee Uni, to study pharmacology, but I'm trying to switch to European Politics... yeah, long story. Haha! Like I said, I'm very busy (I also do lots of dance), but the work you've done is great. Maybe, maybe I'll edit again! Come summer, when I go bug crazy and have heaps of free time. Ha!

Dab (I miss my signature...)

European Policties? Boo hiss :P Hopefully you do return, would be awesome :) You could make an account too! - MerrytonRyan 00:15, 11 February 2011 (EST)
Hello Dab! I guess you've found out what happened last year by now... "It'll be great to see you editing again :D" This.   Dragonfree   talk    contribs    edit count   04:55, 13 February 2011 (EST)
Okay, I'm back for good. :P I'm not sure how much I'll be able to help out, what with uni and the bloodban campaign, but we shall see. Yes, Ryan, Politics! Are you at uni? Dabtowner 02:49, 20 February 2011 (EST)
Wahey, fun times :D Politics is quite a good subject. I'm studying Business and Law, but I may focus more on the Legal Studies side of the degree, rather than Business which is the main subject. MerrytonRyan 11:21, 20 February 2011 (EST)

Hey there - this is a notification to let you know that, due to inactivity for at least a few years, you have been demoted from the Nookipedia staff. If you ever come back to editing and see this message, however, please feel free to contact me or another bureaucratic to discuss getting re-instated to the staff. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 00:30, 18 May 2013 (EDT)
