The long locust[nb 1] is a bug in the Animal Crossing series that has appeared in every game to date. It is naturally camouflaged by its green exterior and the green grass that surrounds it and will occasionally make a sound. If the player goes near it, the long locust will travel away; if it goes to the water, it will disappear.
In the games that the long locust appears in, it is a common bug that the player can encounter, and can be found on the ground, occasionally hopping. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it can be caught from mid spring to the end of fall.
