Her name comes from her fur color; ''blanca'' is Spanish for ''white'', and also from the word ''blank'', referencing her absent, blank face.

Blanca is a faceless white cat whose face is drawn by the player. In games prior to {{NL|short|nolink}}, she wears a random shirt, though her artwork depicts her wearing a blossom shirt, and in {{NL|short|nolink}}, she wears a red-and-yellow striped outfit with a blue ruff on her neck, resembling a {{Wp|jester}}.

In her artwork for {{PG}}, Blanca is drawing a {{Wp|henohenomoheji}}—a face drawn by Japanese schoolchildren learning {{Wp|hiragana}}—on her face. In her artwork for {{WW}} and {{CF}} as well as her in-game appearance in her [[RV]] in {{NLWa}}, she has a crudely drawn smiley face drawn on her face.

===Personality===
In games prior to {{NL|nolink}}, Blanca is insecure about her face since she cannot see what people drew on her. When she visits other player's [[town]]s, she says that she likes to travel the world, but she gets upset when spoken to, thinking the player is there to make fun of and spread rumors about her face.

In {{NL|nolink}}, Blanca is a self-proclaimed "professional trickster," enjoying causing mischief on April Fools' Day by disguising as other villagers.

===Gender===
In international versions of all games, Blanca is female, while she is male in all Japanese and Korean versions. In {{DnM+}}, {{PG}} and {{DnMe+}}, she has a female voice. Beginning in {{WW|short|nolink}}, she has a male voice in all regions.

The change in gender was most likely not intentional originally, as {{PG|nolink}} localizers Nate Bihldorff and Bill Trinen explained that they had to determine [[special character]]s' genders from their names and characteristics due to having ambiguous green text bubbles instead of blue or pink ones like villagers, the reason for [[Saharah]] having the same change.<ref>{{Cite web|author=Jason Nuyens|date=November 12, 2004|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20050315060847/http://www.n-sider.com:80/articleview.php?articleid=371|title=Interviews|site=N-Sider.com|archive-date=March 15, 2005|retrieved=September 25, 2022}}</ref> With Blanca's Japanese name あやしいねこ (''ayashii neko'', "suspicious cat"), character and appearance purposely lacking any characteristics, the high-pitched voice was likely the only possible indicator.

In {{HHD}}, Blanca refers to [[Jack]] as her old trickster rival. She mentions that she has been involved in a vicious prank war with Jack for so long that she can no longer trust her [[Villager house|house]] and thus needs a new one. When Jack is spoken to after building his house, he references the prank war he is engaged in with Blanca and calls her a "pretender to the throne."

Blanca appears in {{DnM+}}, {{PG}}, and {{DnMe+}}. She has a 50% chance of appearing on the [[train]] in place of [[Rover]] when the player travels to another town, and she asks the player to draw a face for her. The next time the player who was visited loads their save, within one week of the other player's visit, Blanca appears in their town for the day with the face the visiting player drew. Blanca can only visit town on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, she appears from 6 AM to 12 AM, and on Saturdays, she appears from 6 AM to 7 PM.

If the player talks to Blanca, she tells them about her visit. Each time the player save and loads the game, Blanca has new dialog. After reloading the game and speaking to her 10 times, she leaves town. If the player does not speak to her 10 times, she leaves one week after she was encountered on the train.

Rover may mention Blanca on the train when the player travels to another town, saying that he has seen her before on the train and was initially scared by her but had fun drawing her face.

In {{WW}} and {{CF}}, if the player allows the "mysterious cat" to visit via the telephone in the [[attic]],{{Note|[[WiiConnect24]] must also be activated in {{CF}}.}} Blanca can appear in the player's town after visiting another town. When spoken to, she asks the player to draw her a face. The next day, she appears in the town of the player who was visited with the face drawn on her, and she will ask the player how her face looks and allow them to redraw it up to two times. She will then appear in another player's town the next day.<sup>[''clarification needed'']</sup>

When spoken to at [[The Roost]] in {{WW|short|nolink}}, Rover may speak of a "mysterious cat," referring to Blanca. He will ask the player if they have seen her.

Due to the discontinuation of [[WiiConnect24]] in 2013, Blanca can no longer be encountered in {{CF|short|nolink}}, unless the player is connected to a third-party online service.

In {{NL}}, Blanca is the host of April Fools' Day. She initially appears in the [[plaza|event plaza]] during the event, and once the player speaks to her, she asks the player to play a game. During the game, Blanca appears in a villager's house disguised as the villager, and the player must determine which one is Blanca through the hints both the real villager and the disguised Blanca tell them. If the player correctly identifies Blanca in all villagers' houses, she mails the player a congratulatory [[letter]] containing [[Photo|Blanca's Pic]] the next day.
