'''Money trees''' are [[tree]]s in the {{SER}} that bear three bags of [[Bell]]s when grown. They can be grown by burying Bells, and the exact requirements to grow one varies between games. Once the Bells have been shaken from the tree, they do not grow back. Money trees first appeared in {{DnM+}} and have appeared in all subsequent mainline games.

If the tree grows, it will bear three Bell bags of the same value that as the one that was buried. Since the largest Bell bag value is 30,000, a maximum of 90,000 Bells can grow on a money tree, for a profit of 60,000 Bells.

In {{WW}}, money trees can be grown by burying Bells with a {{I|golden shovel|WW}}. If the tree grows, it will always bear three bags of 30,000 Bells, regardless of the amount buried.

In {{CF}}, money trees can be grown by burying Bells with a {{I|golden shovel|CF}}. If the tree grows, it will always bear three bags of 30,000 Bells, regardless of the amount buried. No more than one money tree can be grown per day, for a maximum profit of 89,000 Bells.

At the minimum of 1,000 Bells buried, there is a 1% chance a tree will grow. This increased by 1% for every 1,000 Bells buried. Having yellow [[fêng shui]] increases the chance.

In {{NL}}, money trees can be grown by burying Bells with a {{I|golden shovel|NL}}. If the tree grows, it will always bear three bags of 30,000 Bells, regardless of the amount buried. In {{NH}}, money trees can be grown by burying any amount of Bells in shining soil with any shovel. The money tree is now guaranteed to bloom regardless of what value of Bells the player has buried in the soil, so long as it is planted in a location where a tree can normally grow. Since the largest Bell bag value is 99,000, a maximum of 297,000 Bells can grow on a money tree, for a profit of 198,000 Bells.

When visiting a [[boat tour]] island, there is a 5% chance that the hardwood trees on the island will be money trees bearing three bags of 1,000 Bells.
