Rhinoceroses, also known as rhinos,[1] are a species in the Animal Crossing series, appearing exclusively as villagers. Rhinos have large snouts with visible horns, and distinct nostrils. Their ears are pointed upwards, their eyes are on the sides of their heads, and their upper jaw hooks downwards over their lower jaw. Between Doubutsu no Mori and Doubutsu no Mori e+, the rhinoceros' snouts ended in a rounded bump, but as of Animal Crossing: Wild World, their snouts instead slowly slope upward towards the end. Animal Crossing: New Horizons notably redesigned rhinos to feature smaller mouths, shorter ears, and gave their snouts a distinct shape from the rest of their heads. Additionally, Renée and Rhonda only have one horn at the end of their nose, whereas the other rhinos have an additional, smaller horn behind it.

Nine rhinoceros villagers have been featured throughout the series, of which six are female and only three are male, making rhinoceroses a predominantly female species. Of the rhinos, three are normal, two are snooty, one is big sister, one is cranky, one is jock, and one is lazy. There are currently no peppy or smug rhinoceros villagers. Additionally, Patricia, Petunia, and Tiara, the latter two being the only snooty rhinoceroses, have not reappeared since Doubutsu no Mori e+. Renée and Hornsby are also the only rhinoceroses who do not appear in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
