Tom Nook's store (also known as Tom Nook's shop or simply the shop) is a store in the Animal Crossing series owned by Tom Nook. It sells various items, such as furniture, wallpaper, flooring, and tools; Tom Nook also offers various services within the store, such as buying items from the player and giving access to the catalog. The store first appears in Doubutsu no Mori and appears in all subsequent games up to and including Animal Crossing: City Folk.

Tom Nook's store starts as Nook's Cranny and has three upgrades—Nook 'n' Go, Nookway, and Nookington's—which are obtained if the player spends a specific amount of Bells at the store and meets other requirements. Beginning in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Tom Nook's store is replaced by Timmy and Tommy's store, as Tom Nook works in Nook's Homes and Resident Services in New Leaf and New Horizons, respectively.

In Animal Crossing, Tom Nook's store appears in one of the five A acres. Items sold include furniture, wallpapers, carpets, clothing, umbrellas, flower bags, saplings, tools, paint (Nookway onward), diaries (Nookway onward), and Sign Boards (Nookway onward). If the player speaks to Tom Nook, he will allow them to sell items, access the catalog, check turnip prices, and hear or say secret codes.

The furniture, clothing, wallpapers, and carpets sold at Tom Nook's store each have an item group of either A, B, or C, with one group being common and one being rare. Which group is common or rare is randomized upon the creation of the town. Tom Nook will mail the player when there is an item from their rare item group in stock at the store.

The store occasionally sells seasonal items in place some of its standard stock: the Festive Tree and Big Festive Tree are sold in place of two of the furniture items from December 1 to 24, and the Festive Candle and Festive Flag are sold from December 26 to 30. Candy is sold from October 16 to 30 in place of flower bags, and Grab Bags are sold on Sale Day in place of all non-furniture or clothing items.

On the last day of each month, a lottery is held where the player can obtain unique items; no items can be bought or sold during a lottery. Additionally, Tom Nook occasionally holds One Day Sales, where he gives the player a balloon and sells one random item in place of his usual stock. One Day Sales are announced on the bulletin board and last for one hour.

In Doubutsu no Mori e+

Doubutsu no Mori e+ adds the ability for the player to visit Tom Nook's store after-hours if they hit the entrance with an axe or shovel three times. This turns on the lights inside and opens the door, allowing the player to enter and purchase items. During this time, Tom Nook, Timmy, and Tommy wear pajamas, walk much slower than usual, increase item prices by 17%, and decrease the price they buy items at by 70%. Additionally, the catalog is inaccessible at this time.

New to Doubutsu no Mori e+ are objects, which can be purchased from Tom Nook in the store. Additionally, the store sells Crackers from December 16 to 30, as well as Medicine year-round.

In Wild World

In Animal Crossing: Wild World, Tom Nook's store appears directly to the left of the Able Sisters. New to Wild World is the Tom Nook Point System, where the player earns points for purchasing items and can receive unique items and discounts. The store sells furniture, wallpapers, carpets, tools, stationery, Notes in Bottles, flower bags, saplings (Nook 'n' Go onward), and paint (Nookington's only). All stages of the store are open from 8 AM to 11 PM.

The rarity group system returns from Animal Crossing, with the furniture, clothing, wallpapers, and carpets sold at Tom Nook's store each having an item group of either A, B, or C.

In City Folk

In Animal Crossing: City Folk, Tom Nook's store is no longer near the Able Sisters. The Tom Nook Point System returns from Wild World and points now also serve as currency, allowing the player to purchase unique Nintendo-themed items. The rarity groups from Animal Crossing and Wild World do not return. The store sells mostly the same items as in Wild World, except for being able to sell paint beginning at Nook 'n' Go rather than Nookington's, and not selling Notes in Bottles. The store can now occasionally sell silver tools in place of standard tools beginning at Nook 'n' Go.

Thirty days after the store has upgraded to Nookington's, Tom Nook will allow the player to downgrade the store to Nook 'n' Go or Nookway. If the player chooses to downgrade the store, the store will close and reopen a week later, and Tom Nook will give them the option to upgrade it again after thirty days of the store being open.

Stages

Nook's Cranny

Nook's Cranny is the initial stage of Tom Nook's store. The player works here during their part-time job at the beginning of each game.

Nook 'n' Go

Nook 'n' Go is the first expansion of Tom Nook's store. It is designed after a convenience store. To open in Animal Crossing and Wild World, the player must buy or sell a total of 25,000 Bells-worth of items at Nook's Cranny. In City Folk, the Bell amount is increased to 30,000.

Nookway

Nookway is the second expansion of Tom Nook's store. It is designed after a supermarket store. To open in Animal Crossing and Wild World, the player must buy or sell a total of 65,000 Bells-worth of items at Nook 'n' Go. In City Folk, the Bell amount is increased to 80,000.

Nookington's

Nookington's is the final expansion of Tom Nook's store. It is a two-story department store with miscellaneous items being sold on the first floor, operated by Tom Nook, and housewares being sold on the second floor, operated by Timmy and Tommy. In Wild World, the store has a third floor, where Shampoodle is located. To open in Animal Crossing and Wild World, the player must buy or sell a total of 240,000 Bells-worth of items at Nookway and have a person from another town buy or sell at least one item. In City Folk, the friend requirement is removed and the Bell amount is reduced to 150,000.
