Talk:Giant cicada

From Nookipedia, the Animal Crossing wiki

Real scientific name?[edit]

I'm not sure how reliable this is, but I checked the Animal Crossing Wikia and found this:
The bug known as the "Giant Cicada" in New Leaf is actually the Bear Cicada (熊蝉 Kumazemi?), and should not be confused with the Giant Cicada (Quesada gigas) found in the Americas, or the exinct "giant cicadas" of the family Palaeontinidae. Is this true or not? And if so, what's the actuall scentific name of them? Scientic/family names for Animal Crossing bugs are unofficial and pure speculation, so their guess is as good as ours. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 18:09, September 22, 2020 (EDT)
@AlexBot2004 Should I add that information to the real-world information section then? Bones NH Villager Icon.png TDCBox2.png TDCTalk2.png 09:19, September 23, 2020 (EDT)
You can add the information, but since it's speculation you should avoid using the same wording as noted in the Wikia (e.g. '...is actually the Bear Cicada'...). Instead say something like 'may be the Bear Cicada'. Additionally, if you paraphrase from the Wikia you should note the source in your edit summary.
