I've made this picture to illustrate that villagers' hobbies determine what books they read. The names of the books are the datamined names.<br>

The 4 nature-outside books require an applicable object to be nearby. If someone wants to take a picture of a fossil book, they'll need to use "Place Item" on a fossil and wait for a nature-hobby villager to get interested in it. I've finally grown tired of seeing this incorrect info on the top of every villager page, but I hadn't worked up the nerve to really dive into it until today, because I know this will involve a lot of typing and potentially arguing about something I'm fairly confident about, which is exhausting for me. I don't know who had the audacity to write all this incorrect info without any citations or explanations, I'm not going to bother going through the history of this page to identify which people are responsible, but I would like them to speak up to contradict me if they believe they are correct. Maybe someone actually spoke to a dataminer to obtain this info, but I highly doubt that. I'm pretty sure they just made up what they thought seemed accurate based on the hobby name.
* Education hobby: Villagers are NOT more likely to visit the museum if they have this hobby. Villagers visiting the museum is an entirely different mechanic altogether. Basically there are 3 pools: villagers on the overworld (#1), villagers in their own house (#2), and villagers in a secret hidden invisible pool not located in either #1 or #2 (this is #3). If they are in pool #3, they have a small chance of spawning any time you enter: Nook's Cranny, Able's Sisters, a villager's house (they'll be visiting like a friend), or any room in the museum. I've taken advantage of this mechanic in the past to force 2 villagers to spawn in the first room of the fish exhibit, and of course neither had the education hobby. I don't think there's any evidence in this world that villagers with the education hobby are somehow more likely to spawn in the museum if they are in pool #3. Please provide evidence if this is truly the case. The only thing education hobby does is 1) give them the ability to wear Rimmed Glasses and read the "novel"-type book outside. They can also read inside, though all villagers have the ability to read their designated book (based on their hobby) while inside their house or another villager's house. 2) [https://www.reddit.com/r/AnimalCrossing/comments/grlpzf/i_caught_bertha_admiring_the_david_statue/ Use the magnifying glass on very specific objects outside, such as art.]
* Fashion hobby: Please read what I wrote for education hobby but apply this to Able Sister's instead of the museum. Also all villagers do this, it's not exclusive to hobby: "commenting on the player's fashion, sometimes giving them clothes that match their current outfit in color or style." The fashion hobby does not make this more likely. The ONLY thing fashion hobby does is allow them to wear a pink purse with a white flower on it and equip specific headgear/accessories [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Hg9RM8t-wfJWBOhRyqQAbsQN-gv_qLLA2JalqNE-B2U/edit#gid=441855967 based on the info in the "fashionable" columns of this spreadsheet created by dataminer Stoney#9215].
* Fitness hobby: This one is fine.
* Music hobby: This is NOT exclusive to the music hobby, or any more likely if they have the music hobby, this applies to all villagers: "If a stereo is set outside with a song playing, she will sing to the melody; if other instruments are set up, such as drums or guitars, she may play along." Any villager can sing at a stereo, any villager can play an instrument, and the music hobby does not make this more likely. Music villagers are not more inclined to interact with these objects compared to any other villager. The ONLY thing exclusive to the music hobby is that they can sing any location on the island without the use of stereos. They can also sing on any section of the plaza, but specifying this can be confusing since there's 2 types of designated "singing events" where any villager of any hobby can sing in the upper-left corner of the plaza, either as a group of 2-4 or singing to 1-2 sitting villagers.
* Nature hobby: Any villagers can sniff or water flowers, I don't know who thought it was a good idea to specify that. Having the nature hobby does not influence this to be more likely. "will also fish and chase after bugs, and may also be seen carrying bundles of sticks or picnic baskets" again this applies to all villagers, all villagers can do this despite their hobby, and the nature hobby does not influence the likelihood whatsoever. The nature hobby ONLY allows them to utilize the flower book with flowers, use the fish book with placed fish, use the insect book with placed insects, and theoretically use the fossil book with placed fossils (though I haven't seen this in action yet). I've specified this in a previous discussion using a picture table, but they can only read the insect book while inside.
* Play hobby: "Villagers with this hobby may convince others to tag along, like Kyle in this picture" whoever wrote this totally made this up. [https://twitter.com/Anaphey_Themis/status/1263789102802952192 You do not need villagers with the "play" hobby for this plaza activity to initiate]. It's a random plaza activity, just like how other plaza activities can involve either singing or lifting weights, even with villagers who don't have the corresponding hobbies.

Apologies if this comes off as strong. I'm just passionate about having all info be correct, and I don't understand how someone's totally-made-up info got so far to be on every villager page and nobody has challenged it (and I really don't want to be the person in that position of being the challenger). The longer this incorrect info remains up, the more likely people will talk about this as if it's real. Feel free to speak with Stoney#9215 or any other dataminer to double-confirm this. Gray areas where the incorrect info has no evidence to back it up should be removed. Basically all info should be purged except for the following info, which I will restate.

* The only 2 things education hobby does is 1) give them the ability to wear Rimmed Glasses and read the "novel"-type book outside. They can also read inside, though all villagers have the ability to read their designated book (based on their hobby) while inside their house or another villager's house. 2) Use the magnifying glass with very specific objects, such as art (I'm unable to be more specific in this regard).
* The only thing fashion hobby does is allow them to wear a pink purse with a white flower on it and equip specific headgear/accessories.
* The only thing fitness hobby does is allow them to wear Sporty Shades while exercising. Also they can lift the heavy dumbbell type without the need to participate in a group at the plaza, everyone else typically uses the light dumbbell otherwise.
* The only thing music hobby does is allow them to sing anywhere on the island without the need of a stereo.
* The only thing nature hobby does is allow them to use the flower book with flowers, use the fish book with placed fish, use the insect book with placed insects, and theoretically use the fossil book with placed fossils.
* The only thing play hobby does is allow them to run around with their arms extended like an airplane, without the need of the scripted plaza activity.

Any mention of hobby increasing↑ the likelihood of the participation of activities such as visiting the museum, visiting Able's, using instruments or stereos, sniff flowers, water flowers, holding picnic baskets or sticks, is totally false. There's no datamined evidence of this, and I'm almost certain these are all assumptions made based on the hobby name rather than actual brute-force research to determine that there is some slight likelihood of increased probability of events occurring (which I really doubt). All of this incorrect info was written before the release of these 2 documents written by Stoney#9215, which explains that each villager has their own individual LifePoint/HobbyPoint values, and these don't necessarily correlate to hobby at all.

Every activity that has LiveMotif 0 (yes, with a "v") seem to be much more common with villagers with low LifePoint, these activities being holding firewood, holding fruit basket, fishing, and bug catching (and 1 other unknown activity).<br>
Villagers with higher HobbyPoint values seem to do their hobbies more often, but the data wasn't as consistent for me, these all have HobbyMotif 0 and includes reading a book inside.<br>

I believe that the reason there is so much incorrect info in the first place is because the page encourages people to upload images (Image template at the bottom of the page), and there is a lot of false info in the image captions.
