Animal Crossing:New World is an open-play game developed by Sunset Developers Inc and Audie Foxtortters Corporated for Moltendo. It was released on 29 January 2025 for Moltendo XSpecial. It includes many new features and took many from Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Development and release

This game was developed by 2 companies on behalf of Moltendo; those companies are Audie Foxtrotters Corporated and Sunset Developers Inc. They previously marketed it as "The sequel to New Horizons" but had undergone big developments before launch. Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise was incorporated into the game. There would be updates for many years to come. There was online play but only traders with no scamming history or reports could use the game mode. There were many player ideas from New Horizons that got put into the game. For example a player-run shop, locking paths and items and creating certain things.

Unused content

A whole species was found in the games code after launch: Mages. This gave one user of this very site, ExampleUser the thought that there was a magical community in the game, which was denied by the developers and Moltendo.

Villagers

There were 3 new species in the game, Mooses, Badgers and Crabs. Each species contained 2 of each personality, including the new ones: Autistic, ADHD and Dyslexic. The new and returning villager list can be found here Each Villager can now have 2 personalities and 2 personalities have been removed: Smug and Snooty.

Plot

The player arrives at the space harbour to fly to a new planet with Isabelle, Ricky and Icky. This is when the player picks a name, age, birthday and look. Age has to be above 5 but below 150. They then move to the planet with any of the 190 possible villagers. They have a desolate but pretty planet, with minimal landscaping. The player then has to register at base, help all 4 villagers set up homes- as well as the player's own!- then help the starting NPCs set up a campfire at base and food. This is when cooking and crafting is learnt.

The next day, the player finds out they have a large bill to pay in the secondary currency, space tickets, they have to start doing daily tasks like tiding the planet's rubbish with a rod in the sea and a bin bag on land; these items are the basic crafts and are given to them on the first night. This is also when they name the planet.

After the bill of 3000 space tickets is paid, the player unlocks "Back-To-Earth-Planet-Hunting Tickets", the main way to get more villagers to move in, and unlocks the "Build a Shop!" interaction with Isabelle. Isabelle asks the player to build Ricky and Icky their shop, The Peanut Butter Mall, which gets multiple upgrades in the game. The reward for building it (earning 10,00 Bells and 600 space tickets and giving them to Ricky or Icky at base) is 100 Planet-Hunting Tickets and the possibility of Maybelle, Sabella and Labelle coming to the player's planet. After 5 days and catching 100 pieces of rubbish, the player unlocks the Space Pogo- for getting over long rivers- and the Swimming and Diving Suit- for getting over seas and lakes. Each sell in 4 variants at The Peanut Butter Mall.

Then, after the player buys the crafting recipe for fishing, catching bugs and the shovel deluxe, the space base will upgrade into the space hub with new features of real estate, building more than just shops, things like bridges, inclines and villager homes.

When all 25 villagers have moved in, the camping ground opens, for more creatures to move in. When the player catches at least 30 bugs and fish, the museum opens.

The player then has to unlock all new features by reaching certian milestones.
