:::In terms of what needs done, I think the best option for featured article nominations is to have a nominations page, as we do for staff members and featured pictures. ::::::Sorry for the late reply! Been busy and this slipped my mind. Looks great - nice job! I made a few small adjustments, the major part being about voting. I specified that admins and above are responsible for closing nominations. Also changed the part about users removing other users' votes - it's generally a bad idea to let users remove each others' votes, since that can be abused and cause arguments, etc. It's best to just leave the decision of whether or not to include bad votes to the closing administrator. It is indeed a bad idea to let other users remove bad votes. However, I was thinking about voting to remove votes, but since only a handful of users can be active at a time, it may not be our best idea, so yeah, we should leave it to the administrator. The only thing that needs to be adjusted is that template (it says if it's +3, it passes, and if it's -3, it passes; successful featured article nominations should have no objections). == Revamp of the featured article system ==

The first sentence of this page states that featured articles are "some of the best articles ever created". Looking over them, however, I've noticed two things: 

:1. There are only 26 featured articles, meaning any regular Nookipedia user will see repeats often on the main page – which I can attest to myself.

:2. Many of the featured articles do not meet the quality standards stated on this page. In fact, some of them have been featured since the Wikia days and have not been improved much since. Many are ok or even pretty good articles – but certainly not "some of the best ever created".

These two reasons show that we really need to overhaul this system by re-evaluating all existing featured articles and finding new ones by revamping the nomination system. As for how we take on the latter, I think we need to increase traffic to this page more than anything, since nothing appears to be wrong with the nomination system itself, but clearly something isn't right when the last successful nomination started nearly four years ago and didn't reach a verdict until over two years later. An easy way to increase traffic here would be to add a link to this page in the featured article section of the main page. I know there are plenty of featured-worthy articles, but as it is now, they're not being recognized. 

Another suggestion is to greatly expand our guidelines and streamline our voting system to the extent of [[mariowiki:MarioWiki:Featured_articles|Super Mario Wiki's featured article system]], in addition to adding a voting section to unfeature articles, with currently featured articles being re-evaluated every year or so to see if they still hold up. As a step toward revamping our featured article system, one major step I am proposing is removing all of our current featured articles. Most have been featured for nearly ten years (and nearly all appear to not have even been voted on), and while at the time they may have met our standards, they do not now and typically do not showcase good writing, much less "some of the best ever created," and the last thing we want to do is send brand new users straight to some of our poorer articles. During this transition period, we would remove the featured article section from the main page and find pages that ''do'' meet our featured article standards. When the system returns, I believe it should follow the system of featured articles on other wikis, such as Super Mario Wiki and even Wikipedia, where a single featured article is shown on the main page for a set period of time, rather than our current system which displays a random one from a pool of articles upon page load. This would help solve the current "quantity over quality" outlook our system appears to have and will give editors more time to improve articles to featured status.
