There are three ''Zelda'' items in all of the [[First generation|first-generation games]]: The {{I|Master Sword|PG}}, {{I|Anju's Shirt|PG}}, and {{I|Kaffe's Shirt|PG}}. The former is the [[zeldawiki:Master Sword|sacred sword]] that appears throughout the ''Zelda'' series, and the latter two are based on the clothing worn by [[zeldawiki:Anju|Anju]] and [[zeldawiki:Kafei|Kafei]], respectively, in [[zeldawiki:The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask|''The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask'']].

Additionally, in {{DnM+}} and {{PG}} there are two unobtainable [[NES game]]s named {{I|Legend of Zelda|PG}}. In {{DnM+|nolink}}, one contains the cartridge version of [[zeldawiki:The Legend of Zelda|''The Legend of Zelda'']] and one contains the Famicom Disk System version. In {{PG|nolink}} one contains the international cartridge version and the other (the leftover Disk System version from {{DnM+|nolink}}) appears identical to the {{I|NES|PG}} item and crashes the game when interacted with.

There are also several references to the series in dialog in {{PG|nolink}}:
*When talking to [[Gulliver]], he can say he that he left his goldfish Helen "heartbroken in [[zeldawiki:Hyrule|Hyrule]]." Hyrule is the kingdom in which most ''Zelda'' games take place.
:*One interlude in [[Kapp'n's Song]] also mentions Hyrule, with Kapp'n asking the player, "Ye ever spend the night in a Hyrulian prison?"
*When managing [[Animal Island]] [[Game Boy Advance]] data, Kapp'n may say "Why, what in the name o' Jabu-Jabu's belly?" This is a reference to the [[zeldawiki:Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly|dungeon of the same name]] in [[zeldawiki:The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time|''The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time'']].
*The catch quote for the [[Loach]] is "I caught a loach! You don't suppose it's Hylian, do you?". This is a reference to the [[zeldawiki:Hylian Loach|Hylian Loach]], a fish in ''The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time''.
*If the player interacts with a storage unit in a villager's house, a random message will appear. One of them is "You found 100 [[zeldawiki:Rupee|Rupees]]! But you can't use them here." Rupees are the currency in the ''Zelda'' series.

There are three ''[[e-Reader card|Animal Crossing-e]]'' [[E-Reader card#Design Card|Design Cards]] based on the ''Zelda'' series: D07 Hero's Tunic, D08 Triforce Tile, and PR NES Link. The Hero's Tunic card was also released as #D02 in ''Doubutsu no Mori Card-e+'' Series 1.

In {{NL|short}}, there are nine ''Zelda'' items that can be earned through [[Fortune Cookie]]s.

In the {{NLWa|short}} update for {{NL|short|nolink}}, four ''Zelda'' villagers were added. If their corresponding amiibo figures are scanned, they can be invited to the [[campground]] or asked to move in. Their [[RV]]s contain items based on the series.

While no ''Zelda'' crossover content appears in {{NH}}, one quote during [[Environment rating|island evaluation]] is "It's a place I've been quietly watching. It's a secret to everybody. I don't want it to be famous". "It's a secret to everybody" is a reference to a quote by friendly [[zeldawiki:Red Moblin|Red Moblins]] found in secret caves, who gives [[zeldawiki:Link|Link]] [[zeldawiki:Rupees|Rupees]].
