In SER, Fireworks Shows appear during certain events. In PG, the Fireworks Show was called Bonfire Night. During a Fireworks Show, they can be seen flying into the sky in the background and exploding in different colors, lighting up the ground and the inside of homes (when inside). During a fireworks show, there is no rain and the sky will always be clear. There is music that accompanies a fireworks show, which can be described as fairground music. Tortimer, the Mayor, can usually be found in front of Town Hall sometimes giving away Roman Candles, sparklers, or party poppers during firework shows, while shedding some information on the festivities.
The Fireworks Show (known as the Fireworks Festival prior to short) is an event held regularly through summer (winter in the southern hemisphere in NH) in every game in the SER. During a Fireworks Show, fireworks can be seen flying into the sky in the background and exploding in different colors, lighting up the ground and the insides of certain buildings. Villagers will clap and sing as they observe the fireworks in the sky. On the day of a Fireworks Show the weather will always be clear, and unique music will play during the show.

Fireworks are also displayed at the end of Countdown on January 1st to celebrate the New Year.

In PG, fireworks can be seen in the river on the 4th July, which coincides with American Independence Day. They also appear during New Year's Eve, to celebrate the end of the year and the beginning of a new year.

In WW, the fireworks for Independence Day for America was removed, and a new event which happens every Saturday in August at 7:00pm takes its place called the Fireworks Show. During the Fireworks Show, Tortimer will be outside the Town Hall. Talk to him to receive either a sparkler or a Roman candle. Tortimer will usually only allow you to receive 2 of each items a night. Although if you pester him long enough, he might give you more. Both sparklers and Roman candles are equippable items. Once equipped to your character, you can use the item. Both objects shoot out sparks. Tortimer may also give you a fortune for the night. It will appear in a mail slot in your inventory. Fireworks still appear during the New Year's celebrations.

In DnM, a Fireworks Festival is held at the town's lake every Saturday evening throughout August. Redd operates a stall selling either gyroids, airchecks, or fruit. What he sells changes each Fireworks Festival, and the prices vary based on which item he is selling: Gyroids cost 1,000 Bells, fruit costs 1,280 Bells, and songs cost 980 Bells. Villagers gather around the lake, and the fireworks can be seen reflected in the water throughout town.

In CF, the fireworks show takes the same role as in WW. During a fireworks show, villagers can be seen and heard, clapping at the fireworks while looking into the sky. Tortimer will be be standing outside the Town Hall during this event, who will give you a sparkle or a Roman Candle if the player speaks to him.

In PG and , the Fireworks Festival is held at the town's lake on July 4 from 7-9 PM, coinciding with Independence Day (United States) in the United States. According to a bulletin board posting advertising the event, the show is held to commemorate the anniversary of the train station opening. Villagers gather around the lake, and the fireworks can be seen reflected in the water throughout town. In , Fireworks Festivals are instead held each Saturday in August.

During a Fireworks Festival, Tortimer can be found roaming in a random acre and will give the player a decorative Bottle Rocket if he is spoken to; in , he instead gives the player a Three-Foot Ball. Redd will set up a stall by the lake selling handheld items for 480 Bells. He can sell either balloons, pinwheels, or fans, and which one he sells changes each Fireworks Festival.

In NL, the fireworks show takes the same role as it did in Wild World and City Folk. Identical to City Folk, the shows are held every Sunday in August. Isabelle will host the festivities in the Event Plaza, which includes handing out one of the four bopper items (Bulb, Flower, Heart, or Star). She will also allow the player to submit a custom design that will be used as a firework design during the show. Redd will also open a Cookie Stand in the plaza, where he will sell Redd's Cookie for 500 Bells, these can be eaten in order to obtain a prize ticket which can be redeemed for items when given to Redd. In addition, Villagers will clap as they watch fireworks in the sky.

In WW, the fireworks once again occur every Saturday in August at 7 PM. In CF, it instead takes place every Sunday night in August, a change that was kept in later games. For the first time the fireworks can be seen in the sky, as the games use a different perspective from the previous titles in the series.

In NL, the Fireworks Show continues to be held every Sunday in August. Isabelle hosts the festivities in the event plaza, handing out one of four bopper hats (Bulb, Flower, Heart, or Star) or a Fountain Firework, which can be placed on the ground to fire a shower of sparks. Villagers will clap as they observe the fireworks in the sky.

Players can submit a custom design to be used as a firework design during the show. The design will be mixed in with the regular fireworks, appearing randomly.

Redd operates a Cookie Stand in the plaza, where he will sell Redd's Cookies for 500 Bells. These can be eaten, and contain tickets that can be redeemed for items.

While initially absent from NH, Fireworks Shows were added in the 1.4.0 Summer Update Wave 2, once again taking place each Sunday throughout August. As in short, Isabelle will give the player a random bopper hat when spoken to during the show. On the day of a show, Able Sisters will be selling either the Casual Kimono, Kabuki-Actor Yukata, or Morning-Glory Yukata, these being the style of clothing that is traditionally worn during Fireworks#Japan in Japan.

Isabelle will stand outside of Resident Services all day, and players can submit custom designs to be used as fireworks. Up to 10 designs can be submitted, and they will be launched in a specific order that can be configured by the player. Because Isabelle is outside all day, the Civic Consultation Counter at Resident Services is not accessible on the day of a Fireworks Show.

Redd operates a raffle stand in the event plaza, selling tickets during the show for 500 Bells. The player can win one of 24 handheld items, including sparklers, balloons, a Pinwheel, a Tweeter, an Uchiwa Fan, a Fountain Firework, and, beginning in version 1.11.0, food items.

In the Board Game mode in aF, Redd appears in a stall and special-event spaces appear on the board. Landing on one of these spaces brings the player to the stall, where they can purchase a Happy Fox Fortune for 100 Bells. Additionally, scenarios themed around the event can occur when landing on spaces.
