Jane's Japanese appearance is likely based on the Ganguro Fad. She has nearly all of the traits-very dark brown skin, pink lipstick and white fur. Bright colors were also associated with this fad, and Jane wears a rainbow shirt and has a house full of bright-colored furniture. Given the timing of Animal Crossing's release, she was likely changed due to the game coming out shortly after Pokemon's Jynx controversy, and Nintendo wanted to avoid another potential controversy. -Coatlmon 2:26 March 5, 2016 (EDT)

I would add this info to the intro section, with a link, perhaps, to the Jynx controversy on bulbapedia. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 09:03, March 5, 2016 (EST)

Jane and Fever are so starkly different in appearance that separate pages should be made. - unsigned comment from 2601:646:9303:C8EB:D58A:5660:1577:C42F (talkcontribs)

Is there any difference between the two other than appearance? Do they share the same in game personality, house, and attributes? If they do, we should probably just add a picture of Fever to the gallery of Jane rather than create an entirely new page. --Jake 10:02, March 13, 2017 (EDT)
Given the unique reason that Fever was omitted from Population Growing, it is remiss to combine Jane and Fever. - unsigned comment from 2601:646:9303:C8EB:D58A:5660:1577:C42F (talkcontribs)
I'd be curious to hear what other editors think about this, but to me, this is a simple matter of Fever being given a redesign when the game was ported over to the Gamecube and then localized into English. (Our article even mentions a potential motive behind why Fever specifically was given a redesign.) Additionally, this is an English wiki, and beyond perhaps a mention of Fever's old design on the Jane article (which again, is already there), I think that covering Fever with her own article is beyond the scope of the site. This is unless, of course, Fever differs significantly enough in her other in game attributes such as personality and home layout in such a way that it would impact gameplay beyond merely her appearance. --Jake 21:53, March 13, 2017 (EDT)
