short features several new features that are not present in PG or . Nintendo's Wi-Fi connection, where players could travel from DS to DS and visit other towns. New tools (Slingshot, Watering Can), and gold variants. New holidays such as Yay Day, La-Di day, and more. More character customization. Patterns are able to be outside and on the ground. New characters such as Celeste, Brewster, and Harriet. The player can see the sky and make constellations. The museum has much larger collections and the observatory and a café. Animal villagers can now give pictures. Animal villagers interact much more. They chase the player to chat with them, challenge them to contests, mostly fishing and bug catching, come to their house to look around, grow plants, and even give the player pictures. At 8:00 PM each Saturday, the player can visit the café to hear K.K. Slider. New songs were added, such as Marine Song 2001, Steep Hill, and Pondering. The DS added a touch screen feature, which made it easier for the player to move around. Message bottles were added, and players could receive other players messages. More fish and insects were added. Flower cross-breeds were added. 18 new villagers were added.
