The attic is the location the player can visit to save the game. The attic is on the top floor of the house and only consists of a bed and a telephone (as you can not add any furniture or change the wall paper and carpet). It is used to change game settings and save your game (you may also use the save button in the top right corner Animal Crossing: City Folk or simply press start on the the ds Animal Crossing: Wild World. It only appears in Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, because they all share the one house (including town folk) in the games before them.

A player can change his or her bed in the attic by pressing A at the top or bottom of the bed, and then selecting a bed from his or her pockets. This will switch your new bed with the original bed (it will go back in your pockets). Players may place both single and double beds.

The settings that may be changed in the attic include the option of Animalese (an almost high piched voice your villages speak), Bebebese (just a sound like a keyboard), or Silence (for the dialect); changing the house flag; and the possibility for the Mysterious Cat to come to town.

Tom Nook and Resetti will tell you to save your progress by going to your bed in the attic. Or you can press start on Animal Crossing: Wild World or the pen icon on Animal Crossing: City Folk, but if you do not Resseti will come to your house as you start to play the game again and have a very important chat with you about saving your game.
