The Nintendo Switch, codenamed NX, is Nintendo's upcoming video game console. Officialy revealed via a trailer posted on Nintendo's YouTube and social media channels on October 20, 2016, it is currently set for a worldwide release in March 2017. The Switch is a hybrid device: Players can play it as a handheld console or as a home console using a TV-connected dock. Similar to the DS and 3DS, cartridges serve as the physical format of its games. Unlike the Wii and Wii U before it, the Switch will not be backwards-compatible with either 3DS or Wii U software.[1]
