Backstories are when one person tells a story of their past to one or more people. Many characters give their backstories in the Animal Crossing series when befriended by the player. Characters that provide their stories of the past include:

• Tom Nook
• Sable
• Blathers

Every now and again, the player may see a character acting strangely. If the player talks to the character, they will have to option to continue normally or ask them what's wrong.
