Animal Crossing Community (commonly abbreviated as ACC) is a community website that focuses on the three main games of the Animal Crossing series: Animal Crossing, Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk. ACC is primarily a forum with a strong sense of community and a large member base. ACC also has many other things to offer visitors, such as guides written by site staff/volunteers, a built in item catalogue, and an automated trading post for Animal Crossing (GCN). ACC also provides user's the ability to share their town tunes and designs using on-site creativity tools.

COPPA Compliance

For many years of its operation, the ACC staff was unaware of the required compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) for sites that collect a substantial amount of information from children. On January 23, 2011, a required parental consent system was added to the site to comply with federal regulations. All new and existing users must now enter their date of birth prior to using the site. Users under the age of 13 must have a parent or guardian complete a credit card transaction in the amount of $0.30 to verify consent.[1] All existing users that had not verified consent after 30 days had all personal information wiped from their accounts, including their profile information and posts. This caused numerous issues with forum threads and their post counts due to a bug in the site's coding. This issue has since been fixed by jader201. [2]
