"Nook's Cranny" is based on "nook and cranny," meaning a small corner or hole.

At Nook's Cranny, the [[player]] may buy and sell items for [[Bell]]s, the main in-game currency. The shop appears in all main {{SER}} games except {{NL}}, and the player has access to the shop either from the start (prior to {{NH|short|nolink}}) or early-on in the game ({{NH|short|nolink}}).

==Appearances==

In {{PG}}, Nook's Cranny sells one piece of [[furniture]], one piece of [[clothing]], one [[umbrella]], one or two [[tool]]s, two [[flower]] seeds, one [[sapling]], one [[wallpaper]], one [[flooring|carpet]], and one item of [[stationery]]. Initially, the only tool in stock is the [[shovel]], but more tools become available as the player spends and/or sells items.{{Note|name=sell|Selling items adds only half of the item's sell value to the total.}} At 3,000 Bells-worth of items, the [[net]] can be in stock. After an additional 5,000 Bells-worth, the [[fishing rod]] can be in stock. After another additional 4,000 Bells-worth,{{Note|Cumulatively 12,000 Bells}} the [[axe]] can be in stock.

Once a total of 25,000 Bells are spent and/or sold,{{Note|name=sell}} the shop will temporarily close on the following day to be upgraded to [[Nook 'n' Go]] on the day after that.

===In {{WW|nolink}} and {{CF|nolink}}===
In {{WW}} and {{CF}}, Nook's Cranny supplies a [[wallpaper]], a [[flooring|carpet]], a [[flower]] seed, [[medicine]], two pieces of [[furniture]], three [[tool]]s and some writing paper.  In the back of store, two pieces of furniture stand alone. To the left of them is a long table that spans the whole the wall except for space for Nook's Point-Tracking System. In the middle there is a table for three tools. To the right of it is some vases. The store itself resembles a shed, made with wooden planks and held together with metal sheets. In fact, it is even stated that Tom Nook's shop may be [[Tortimer]]'s old gardening shed that he used before he became mayor. It is the only one of Nook's shops without an automatic door. Nook's Cranny is also available as a model after the player has earned 300 points on the [[Tom_Nook%27s_Store#Tom_Nook_Point_System|Tom Nook Point System]].

The player must spend and/or sell a total of 25,000 Bells in {{WW|short|nolink}} or 30,000 Bells in {{CF|short|nolink}} and play for at least eight days for the store to upgrade to [[Nook 'n' Go]].

In {{NH}}, Nook's Cranny returns, but as in {{NL}}, it is staffed by [[Timmy and Tommy]]. In order to build Nook's Cranny, the player needs to repay the first debt to Tom Nook. The following day, they need to talk to Timmy while he tells the player about this store and requests to have the following materials: 30 {{I|wood|NH}}, 30 {{I|softwood|NH}}, 30 {{I|hardwood|NH}}, and 30 {{I|iron nugget|NH}}s. Timmy only accepts materials in their full stacks of 30 but does not require all four materials to be paid at once. After giving Timmy all the required building materials, Timmy asks the player to decide on the store's location. The store opens the next day, and the Nooklings and villagers may hold an opening celebration.

After 30 days have elapsed or buying and selling roughly 200,000 Bells combined and Mabel visits the island at least once, Nook's Cranny will expand into a larger general store. Unlike previous games, the store retains the name Nook's Cranny and is the only upgrade for the store. This expanded store is bigger in both size and selection, with some changes being more items being available per day, having two hot items instead of one, selling better tools, and selling 2.0 furniture.

Seasonal items are stocked at Nook's Cranny alongside the regular selection during certain months of the year. These seasonal items are specific to one color variant for each island. During the summer months, the seasonal selection will switch between a {{I|surfboard|NH}} and a {{I|retro fan|NH}}. During the winter months, the seasonal selection will switch between a {{I|round space heater|NH}} and {{I|celebratory candles|NH}}.

There is a drop-off box outside Nook's Cranny where the player can sell items. The box can be accessed whether the store is open or closed, and any items dropped off are sold for 80% of their full sell price due to "handling fees." The drop-off box totals the Bells received from all sold items in a day, and the next day the Bells are automatically deposited into the player's [[savings]] when Timmy or Tommy calls the player to notify them the next day. [[Turnip]]s cannot be sold at the drop-off box, and hot item prices are only valid in-store.

==Trivia==
*In {{NH}}, it is possible to technically remain inside Nook's Cranny indefinitely by entering a menu, activating dialogue with Timmy or Tommy, or, if not upgraded, sitting on the chair in the bottom-right before the store closes. However, ending these following processes will immediately result in the store closing as it normally would, albeit at a later time.
