Relation to Frigg[edit]

Is it possible that Friga's English name is based on the Norse goddess "Frigg"? Has this been brought up before? BB$5 (talk) 18:01, January 4, 2021 (EST)

I don't think it's been brought up before, but I don't see how Friga's appearance or personality would relate to the Norse goddess. Is the name the primary thing that made you think of it? Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 13:16, January 5, 2021 (EST)
The name was the main thing that got me thinking. I would generally agree that nothing else about her relates to the Norse goddess though. BB$5 (talk) 21:55, January 5, 2021 (EST)
Upon some research, Frigg is sometimes anglicized as Frigga. Furthermore, there is an old norse poem (Lokasenna) in which Loki is warned by another deity that Frigg has some potential to see the future. "Mad art thou, Loki! in recounting thy foul misdeeds. Frigg, I believe, knows all that happens, although she says it not." Which can kind of sort of be related to Friga's quote "You can't learn a life lesson from a fortune cookie." Most other language translations also are derived from the same old norse word for "beloved." Seems plausible. Ruthless CutieLolly NH Villager Icon.png(Say hello :]) 22:59, January 5, 2021 (EST)
