'''Hornsby''' is a [[lazy]] [[rhinoceros]] [[villager]] in the {{SER}}. He first appeared in {{DnM}}, and after his appearance in {{DnMe+}}, he remained absent from the series until {{NLWa}}. Data for him exists in {{HHD}} but ultimately remains unused. He is the only lazy rhinoceros in the series. His name comes from the horn on his head.

==Characteristics==

Hornsby is a blue rhinoceros with yellow horns and pink ears with smaller black insides. He also has black eyes pointing in opposite directions, which appear to be pointing to his back when viewed to the side. On the back of his head are dark blue stripes.

As a [[lazy]] villager, Hornsby has a relaxed, laid-back lifestyle and will appear friendly toward the player. He often talks about food and is humorous or naïve during conversations. During conversations with other villagers, he generally gets along well with [[peppy]], [[smug]], and [[cranky]] villagers, while [[snooty]] and [[jock]] villagers may not get along with him due to their conflicting lifestyles. In {{NH|short}}, Hornsby goes to sleep at 11 PM and wakes up at 8 AM.

In {{NH}}, if Hornsby is one of the villagers who moved in during the main storyline after the villager house development quest, his house will have a combination of non-craftable furniture, plus items crafted by players during the island development storyline, primarily from the [[Log Series]] and applicable native fruit sets. He cannot have his initial house interior unless he moves out of the player's island or the {{HHP|short}} DLC is purchased, in which either the player or [[Isabelle]] can reset the interior.

With the [[Animal Crossing: New Horizons/Update history/1.6.0|version 1.6.0 update]], the {{I|Pile of Zen Cushions|NH}} directly left of the entrance was moved to the west side of the house, and the {{I|Stacked Magazines|NH}} directly right of the entrance was moved to the east side of his house, making it easier for the player to navigate around.
