If in-game clock is not synced with the Nintendo DS system clock, Joan will not sell red turnip seeds, telling the player she is out of stock until the next week. A red turnip seed can be sold for  100 Bells, making it the only fixed-price item whose sell price is not one-quarter of its buy price.
