The Stalk Market refers to the pricing of turnips in the Animal Crossing series. The name is a pun on the real-life equivalent known as the stock market.

In the turnip trade, players can buy and sell turnips in order to turn a profit, based on the fluctuating value of turnips. There are two types of turnips: white and red.

White turnips

Main article: White turnip

White turnips can be purchased from Joan during Sunday morning each week, in bunches of 10 at varying prices. They will last one week, rotting at 6 A.M. the following Sunday. Tom Nook will buy white turnips throughout the rest of the week, having two different selling prices during different times each day. Normally the price is low, such as 60 or 80 Bells, but the price can peak to over 200 Bells and can sometimes reach to over 1,000 Bells each.

Red turnips

Main article: Red turnip

Red turnips, similar to white turnips, may also be bought from Joan on Sunday morning in seed form - unlike white turnips, however, their value does not fluctuate. Joan will sell seeds for 1,000 bells, which must then be planted and watered every day for a week. The more days a red turnip has grown, the greater its value. A full-size turnip sells for a maximum of 16,000 Bells, making a profit of 15,000. Tom Nook will buy the different size Red turnips for the following prices:

Red Turnip Selling Price
Seed 250 Bells
Day 1 2 Bells
Day 2 100 Bells
Day 3 500 Bells
Day 4 2,000 Bells
Day 5 4,000 Bells
Day 6 8,000 Bells
Day 7 +
