Shells are common items that wash up on the ocean shoreline of all four Animal Crossing series games. They can provide an easy, yet small, source of Bells, and they are especially useful the first few days in order to obtain enough Bells to buy tools, such as the fishing rod or net. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, scallops and pearl oysters are deep sea creatures, thus obtained from diving.
