I'm going to propose a new block policy I've written as a replacement for this ageing current one. Please review and suggest any changes, and list your support/opposition. Thanks. Drago (talk) 13:54, May 3, 2021 (EDT)
- I went through and made two minor stylistic edits. The policy itself looks solid to me. Thanks for taking the time to re-write it! (talk) 13:20, July 1, 2021 (EDT)
- Looks good! I Support enacting this policy. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 02:46, August 7, 2021 (EDT)
- Support per implementation. -- PanchamBro (talk • contributions) 02:51, August 7, 2021 (EDT)
- Comment Still reviewing, but what I've read so far looks good! I did go ahead and rewrite the bots section to specify that bots may be approved, and that approved bots may be blocked when they are malfunctioning. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 05:10, August 7, 2021 (EDT)
- Comment I've added a section about partial blocks (which weren't available when I originally wrote this). In my opinion, we should only use partial blocks when disruption is clearly confined to one page, but you may disagree. Drago (talk) 11:43, August 7, 2021 (EDT)

Why is an username of someone famous not acceptable?
If the username was of a person who committed a mass shooting or something (like if someone made an account named “Dylan Klebold”), it makes sense to ban the username. But if someone creates an username named “Taylor Swift” or something, they could be a fan of the person. Super Mario World 22:15, January 9, 2024 (EST)
- To be honest, I can't remember. The staff had a discussion about usernames but I can't remember the reasoning for disallowing names based on famous people. Maybe it was because Wikipedia disallows them, but I don't think we should have to follow Wikipedia. I'd not be opposed to a re-write of the username policy. Drago (talk) 10:30, January 10, 2024 (EST)
