| + | :To be honest, I can't remember. The staff had a discussion about usernames but I can't remember the reasoning for disallowing names based on famous people. Maybe it was because Wikipedia disallows them, but I don't think we should ''have'' to follow Wikipedia. I'd not be opposed to a re-write of the username policy. Comment Still reviewing, but what I've read so far looks good! I did go ahead and rewrite the bots section to specify that bots may be approved, and that approved bots may be blocked when they are malfunctioning. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 05:10, August 7, 2021 (EDT)- Comment I've added a section about partial blocks (which weren't available when I originally wrote this). Why is an username of someone famous not acceptable?
If the username was of a person who committed a mass shooting or something (like if someone made an account named “Dylan Klebold”), it makes sense to ban the username. But if someone creates an username named “Taylor Swift” or something, they could be a fan of the person.
