The Nintendo 3DS is the unreleased successor to the Nintendo DS. It will have 3D technology without the need for glasses. It is scheduled to be released before March 2011 and was playable at E3 2010. The screens are using a parallax barrier system. Launch titles for the system include the new Animal Crossing series game, Template:AC3.[2] It's possible release date is November 20th, but this is yet to be confirmed. It is to be released in Japan on February 26, 2011 and will be priced at 25,000 Yen ($300/£219).

Features

The graphics on the Nintendo 3DS are greatly improved.
  1. The 3DS has a gyroscope (tilt sensor) allowing it to detect movement of the console, like on the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. It has an analog stick, so controls can be more free. It has, like the DSi, two cameras: a regular camera atop the 3D screen, and two on the lid of the 3DS allowing for 3D pictures.
  2. The 3DS has two screens: the lower screen, which remains a regular touch screen, but the top screen has been shortened and lengthened, and it serves as the 3D screen for the console.
  3. There is a slider on the right side of the console allowing one to adjust the 3D depth so it can be focused. One can also turn the 3D off, for example if one is blind in one eye, the screen would appear as a red image and a blue image.
  4. There are vast improvements to the graphics.
  5. The 3DS is also able to play 3D movies, such as How to Train Your Dragon or Avatar on the top screen.
  6. It is backwards compatible with the Nintendo DS and DSi.
  7. It will have a Virtual Console with Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games.
