Nookipedia:Staff

From Nookipedia, the Animal Crossing wiki

The staff is a group of users that volunteer their time to maintain Nookipedia. Each type of staff plays a different part in the maintenance of the wiki. We like to think that no staff level is higher than another, because each performs different duties for the wiki.

Staff members are usually chosen by sysops, but they can also be nominated by other users. An up-to-date list of the entire wiki staff can always be found on this page.

Staff Ranks

Directors

Directors are the users who are the highest in command. Nookipedia has two directors, each dealing with a different aspect of the site's maintenance. Jake, one of the directors, is responsible for supporting the site both financially and on a server level. In the case of a major vandal attack, directors are able to lockdown editing of the site to lead editors and above, administrators and above or nobody at all.

Bureaucrats

Bureaucrats help with the day-to-day running of the wiki by resolving edit-wars, keeping the site up to date with the latest news from Nintendo and making other users into staff members. They can also remove staff who have done wrongdoing or been inactive. However, only directors can remove bureaucrats from their position.

Administrators

Administrators, or sysops, have additional powers to help them combat vandals by being able to block users and fully protect pages.

Lead Editors

Lead Editors are users who don't only edit a lot but can clearly describe and explain things, a key quality in a Nookipedia editor. They also have the ability to semi-protect, move, and delete pages. Usually, becoming a Lead Editor is a followed by becoming an administrator later on. They are sometimes referred to as 'Jr. Admins', or 'Semi-Admins'.

Patrollers

Patrollers are last, but certainly not least. Patrollers have what may be the most important job on the wiki; to patrol all new revisions made by our users. They do this through a special page, which allows them to perform their duties very easily.

What Can't the Staff Do?

Staff members should not use their powers to settle editing disputes; for example, to lock a page on a version he or she prefers in an editing dispute that is not vandalism. Staff powers should be used to help keep the wiki clear of vandalism, spam, and users who make malicious edits, but not for simple disagreements between users acting in good faith. Ideally a staff member should not be considered "in charge." The ideal admin is simply someone who is trusted to have a few extra buttons and to use them for the benefit of the wiki. Remember, being an administrator is not a big deal. You're simply helping the wiki in a different way than the average user.
