The simple wooden fence can be obtained from crafting, which requires 6× softwood. 50 simple wooden fences are also given to the player by Tom Nook after completing the villager house development plot. The recipe for this item can be obtained from Nook Stop for  1,000 Nook Miles. As of the 2.0 update, the fence's color can be customized by using 1 customization kit.

In Happy Home Paradise, this item is unlocked for use in designing when doing the second villager's vacation house.
