Move to raffle[edit]

Closing discussion in favor of move to raffle. Consensus was reached that the more common in-game name. which is raffle, should be used for the page title. Text replacements will be run shortly to update item pages. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 00:50, February 13, 2021 (EST)

I'm proposing this move since the term "raffle" is used much more often in-game than "lottery". Looking at a text dump, "raffle" and "raffle ticket" are used 21 times in reference to this event, while "lottery" and "lottery ticket" are only used twice. On the contrary, the official Nintendo Power guide exclusively uses "lottery", but I think the game itself should take precedence. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 00:58, January 30, 2021 (EST)

Oppose Oppose. The general consensus online between the difference between a lottery and a raffle is that raffles always guarantee a winner, while lotteries do not. Since there is a 65% chance nothing is won from Nook, lottery remains the appropriate word choice, even though the in game text states otherwise.Lampshade59276 (talk) 11:44, January 30, 2021 (EST)
Support Support - While Nook's raffle may in fact be a lottery by definition (as pointed out by Lampshade59276), the goal of the article's name is to allow for ease of search and discoverability. Using the same terms on the wiki as are used in-game allows for easy association (readers know and understand what we're referring to). The fact that the items associated with the event are referred to as 'raffle tickets' I think is reason enough for the move. I would still suggest keeping Lottery as a redirect.
